Hello everyone, thank you in advance for your help here. I am working myself into such a state about this.
DH and I have been married for 12 months - when he proposed it was with a 1.1ct cushion diamond on a very thin and low profile platinum band. I wouldn't say I hated it but it did nothing for the diamond and was lost on my long fingers. The diamond itself is just beautiful though.
I had it temporarily reset into a cheap temporary eternity style ring with CZ's while I searched for my perfect setting. I loved that setting and the look of it, but the stones became chipped quickly (which I expected) and DH really wants my setting drama to be over and done with and for me to pick a wedding set and stick with it.
I am pregnant with our first baby so I am looking for something within budget.. but around the 1500 mark would be fine.
I am so nervous because what I do like is generally more than I want to spend but I don't want to keep resetting this thing!
This leads me to LOTG. Some of their settings are lovely and I have been speaking to Stephen and am almost 100% ready to pull the trigger on a semi custom piece and suddenly I am having panics over it.
This is what I was going to purchase:

I have customised it to be a 3/4 eternity and they would be adding prongs for my diamond. With upgraded VS stones it would cost around $1500.
In 2/3 months I would buy 2 more of the same band (3/4 eternity) to make a set.
I have done months of research on LOTG and flirted with other settings but I think this is the one. It simple but beautiful and I can easily buy the matching rings which would sit flush. Plus the cost is reasonable.
My concerns are of course diamond quality and after care. I chose this setting because each diamond is encased in 4 prongs which I feel is safer for the diamonds in the setting and its not overly high profile so ok for light everyday wear.
I know a few of your have their settings for RHR's and I know there is some talk of not purchasing from him for an engagement ring as the gold can be abit light on.
I guess I want to know what you think of my decision... I could continue to save and have a more expensive custom setting made by a David Klass etc but I am so sick of my diamond sitting in a box and I know once the baby arrives I won't want to spend any money while I am on maternity leave so the time is now.
