Which stone should I get?

I’d go the 2.74 cos it’s whitest and biggest.

Oh good. I can be the ONE with a different opinion!

I have around $48k in the two (2+ct) diamonds I have for e-rings. So I could have one 3+ carat diamond if I wanted. But 2.3 cts (in a round) is all I care to wear on a daily basis as most people around me wear smaller than that. So I chose two stones over one big one.

So if most of your friends and family have around 2+ ct diamonds, then the slight upgrade to 2.75 won't be a big deal. Or if they all have smaller stones, you can still go big if you just like big diamonds! You have a tiny finger, though, and even 2.35 will look quite large. So think about reality is my suggestion. I'd choose the 2.35 H VS1 for myself because that's the max size I am comfortable wearing in a round on a daily basis. If you are young, it doesn't matter if you choose the 2.3 or 2.5 because you can always upgrade again if you find the stone too small next month or 10 years from now. I am just not in the camp of "bigger is better" for everyone. But I can't remember off hand what size you are wearing now. I do prefer VS clarity, as well. G and H color are great.

I'd take the 2.74 in a heartbeat. Like @HappyNewLife, my 2.97 ACA shrunk overnight...lol!!! I always thought 2cts was my absolute max size for daily wear, and now, my 2.97 seems so small:lol:

I’d go the 2.74 cos it’s the whitest in the video still and I liked it the most. Can you link to the video?
What do your friends and family wear? Will you be conspicuously larger than them or does it not matter?

@diamondseeker2006 speaks words of wisdom. I have $140k in 3 e-ring diamonds. A large honker would look silly on my size 4.5 finger (was 3.5 when I was younger), so big isn't always better. In your case picking any of the three superideal CBIs would be fine for your size 4 finger.

You started with the 2.74 G-SI1 but then threw 2 other stones in the mix. What your friends and family have or say shouldn't enter into your decision. It comes down to what YOUR EYES like and treasure the most. If you are very color sensitive pick the G. If you just want to hit the 2.5 mark, pick the 2.52. If you have laser vision, pick the VS1 because it will definitely be eye clean. I jumped on my 2.79 F-VS1 CBI because it was my mind clean stone in all aspects.

You just have to figure out what is most important to you. As far as wearing a 2.74 everyday, that should not be a problem unless you are in the medical field always putting on or taking off gloves in which case you may just want to wear a plain band at work.

I vote against the 2.5 because there is a feather that seems to make contact or at least come very close to the girdle, so why take a chance.

I vote against the 2.7 because you have already broken the illusive 2ct mark, why sacrifice TWO clarity grades in such a large stone when you can be in the VS range?

I vote for the 2.3 because it is H&A proportions like the rest, however has the best clarity, and the diamond plot is very clean and 100% safe from any far fetched concerns. Additionally color is irrelevant here (G&H will face up the same guaranteed in all these diamonds).

So have you made a decision?

I am late to the party. I would normally eliminate Si stone for this size of diamond. However, the 2.7 has inclusions that I can accept. For the two more important C’s of size and color advantage, the decision to go for 2.7 is a no brainer to me.

I normally eliminate SI1. But with CBI, go for it. Visually the size difference is noticeable.

That big one looks great

I’m working towards the 2.74! Thanks everyone for your help!

Had a bit of a curve ball thrown at us so the project might take a little longer than hoped but will be back to report on things as we navigate the next few weeks!

Thanks again for all your advice and taking part in the poll!

Oh and for those wondering why I was concerned about the 2.74 being too big, the below is a 3.01 HOF which measures 0.2mm bigger than the 2.74.

I’m not sure it is visually balanced (and looks huge don’t you think) which is why I was thinking smaller was better but I’ve since been shown the error of my ways :lol-2:

So only you can decide what the "right" size is for you but since you ask no, I honestly do not think it looks too big at all. JMO.

Not too big at all, I can’t wait to see your magnificent CBI rock !

I always go for color over clarity. Coz the color can tell but clarity its really hard to tell. Just make sure this 2.74 its an eye clean diamond, if not, well its your call.
I will not recommend the 2.5ct not just because its a H color but because of the feather inclusions is alreafy touching the surface of the diamond. So theres a big chance it will chip off.. ;-)..

If you fell the 2.74ct is too big well best is to get the 2.3ct . All stones are decent cut and best ligthperformance under the scope analysis. =)2

Please can you tell us your experiences of VS2 diamonds 'chipping off'?

I can't believe that G is a SI1! The inclusions are all the 'good' kind and small and scattered. Surprised it didn't get graded VS2!

Hmmmm.... okay, first of all, these are all CBI diamonds, which is a superideal branded cut. It is the best of the best, likened to ACA, VC, HOF, etc... To call the cut of these stones "decent" shows your inexperience/ignorance. So please do [a lot] more homework before attempting to "grade" these stones for others.

Ozzz... maybe your classification of super ideal is not strict as mine. So sorry to say that these three diamonds if I grade it, well all fail to my creteria as a super ideal. :ugeek:

No, my apologies to you. By the way, since you say you "grade" diamonds, I'm assuming you must be in the trade. If so, please change your profile to say "Trade" (per forum rules), and do come back and tell us all about your strict criteria for diamond cut, as well as your experience in grading. Sounds as if you could teach all the experienced cutters here a thing or two, with such strict criteria and all... :read: 8)

I've really been enjoying this troll the past few days. Has some rather funny opinions regarding diamonds falling apart and what constitutes an ideal cut.

I would recommend not responding anymore though. As they say, don't feed the troll.

No problem. Nothing to lose =)2

Diamonds shrink you know....That'll look normal size in a few days. Plus the inclusion could well be prongable, it's a lovely rock!
