Hi Chel and Tristan,

Thanks for your comments. I am already working with Liza on settings so hopefully I will go with whiteflash on setting, as well. Liza sent me side by side pictures of H and I stones. I am enclosing the picture. Liza also said the following about the fluorescence and clarity from top and sides.

Regarding the I VVS2, yes, it's totally and completely eye clean. Beyond that, it's what I would call "loupe clean" since you'll have a very hard time finding the inclusions even under magnification. Someone with experience in the industry though will be able to find them using the diamond plot on the report. Also, the fluorescence doesn't have any negative affect on the diamond. Sometimes strong fluorescence can cause a diamond to look "hazy" or "milky" but not in this case.

I think I will go with the I color based on what Liza and everyone who contributed to this thread said about this I color stone. Thanks for your help. I will post the setting options in a separate thread once I narrow them down to three. I really want all of you to see how this ring will come together in the end as you continue to contribute quite a lot in this process.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I already e-mailed Victor about two potential settings and asked for cost estimates. Fingers crossed! I did some reading on Victor's previous work and like you stated all reviews were beyond positive. I watched videos of some of his work, they look stunning. I love, love, love the setting in the second video. I still think the first setting is too busy. My only concern about the first
one is whether your GF wants a halo setting or not? That second setting though... !

I agree with you on the second setting but unfortunately Victor's quote was way over my budget (2.4K more than I budgeted) so that will be out . Liza suggested a few designs from Vatche, looking into those. Do you think I can get a setting with vintage feel and unique character with 3K budget? I will reserve the I stone today and now the setting search officially begins.

Seeing those two diamonds side by side reinforces my preference for the I. The color and clarity are also the same as my diamond, not that that matters...just a fun fact. I wasn't specifically seeking out VVS, but I admit I love the fact that I can't find the inclusions even with a loupe.

As I mentioned in a previous post, there are some I color ACAs you could check out with similar cutting and prices, BUT I would still recommend this one over those because of the potentially beneficial effect of the fluorescence on color, especially considering you were on the fence about I color to begin with. However, I didn't want you to miss them in case one really speaks to you...

You could custom design a setting through WF. Their bench is very good. My setting was a custom design, and it was much more affordable than the big-name designers ($1600 for a very substantial amount of platinum, no pave though). I'd browse through their settings and see if you could use one as a starting point for some customization.

I appreciate you taking the time to do more research on the center stone options. As you stated very well, I think it is best to go with the original ES I stone rather than ACA because of the fluor effect. Chel came up with some beautiful setting designs, I will see if I can get a custom design with WF. They also have a 12% off setting promotion at the moment. I will keep you posted.

Good choices on the settings- I think they would all look fab with a lovely princess. But they are all very different! Do you know from your gf's rellies what sort of setting she wants yet?

I am expecting an e-mail/call from Liza. I will order both the diamond and the setting today. Liza told me that they have a 30 day return policy on settings so in case my girlfriend wants to change the setting, we can do that.
