Hello, I was wondering if someone could speak to the market for a 6-prong tiffany replica setting in platinum. The alloy composition is excellent, being combo of platinum and paladium. The band is not "knife-edge". It has also never been worn and is thus brand new. Size is 6.5. Can anyone speak to what approximate resale value I can receive for it and best place to sell it? Is $1000-1200 too unreasonable? Thanks.

Only my opinion, but I think you would be very lucky to get $1k unless maybe it's a designer name that people could recognize.

I'm thinking more like $600. There are no diamonds on it right? How much was the initial cost? BGD makes one for about $1250.
Vatches is $1800. If yours is a name brand you can probably get more than the $600 that I'm thinking.

A real tiffany setting on ebay was going for $1200 OBO in yellow gold.

If there are no diamonds in the setting and it is not a designer setting, I don't think you will get that much for it.

For reference, I had a 0.75 tcw Tacori setting (originally purchased for around $4500) that I sold for $1200. It had lots of diamonds and was an authentic designer setting with certificate and box included.

How much did you purchase it for originally? You can probably expect to get about 1/4 of that, I would imagine.

Good luck selling your setting and I hope you are able to get close to what you want for it. You never know! :)

Show us a picture and tell use the brand. It could be from around $200 to maybe $800.

I have a basic 6 prong Tiffany repo that's 18k wg and only paid $250 for it. It's not a peg head either. In platinum, it would have been about 4-500 more so if I was looking for a preowned version, I wouldn't pay more than $4-500, especially if it's not a designer brand.

Adiamor sells a platinum 6 prong for $700 I believe.

Oops. I take that back. A platinum 6 prong from adiamor is $1200

So you're actually selling a semi copy of a Tiffany setting? How much of the alloy is platinum and how much is actually palladium?

By 'brand new' do you mean that it's never had a stone set in it?

If that's the case you may be able to sell it to a jeweler or a discount conscious consumer although I don't think you'll get anywhere near that price point unless you're a excellent salesperson. That has more to do with you than the ring. If it's has a stone set in it, you're likely to end up at one of the scrap metal type buyers or a pawn shop type outfit. Platinum goes for about $20/gram.

I bought one on a resale site a couple of years back - tiffany rep., all platinum - cost me $300. Just giving you an idea of the other end of the market.
