In the pictures my eye was immediately drawn to the AVC, and even without the halo it looks as substantial as the haloed ring. Love it and I can see why you wear it more often, though of course the other diamond is a wonderful example of its type.

I personally would still sell it. I did that myself with a three-stone ring I had. I am a one-diamond-ring kind of gal.

Charmy,
You put so much effort into every aspect of your jewelry. Every detail.. And I am sure it's such and emotional thing that I am surprised you are considering selling the first one as it's taken you on a journey to the second ring... I think if you have the opportunity to keep both rings please do it. They are both incredible and you are beyond lucky to have them. You may not wear it much.... but I think you should still keep it and enjoy it. I see you wearing it for weddings and dress up occasions, etc... You have the opportunity to have two magnificent rings - i would treasure that.
I know you prefer the AVC - as do I - but heck to be able to pull out that first bling on occasion? Or even to look at in the house on rainy days? It may not be the logical answer - but the girl in me is all over you keeping both.

I too am a one ring kind of girl. We all joke about having several erings in several different styles but truth be told I only want one.

They are both beautiful rings and of course one is a halo and one is not. Tough choice but it seems you prefer the LM ring as an engagement ring and find it more wearable on an every day basis. If I could sell the haloed stone and not get hurt, that's exactly what I would do. You would then have a setting for a stunning RHR.

Unless you think you would wear them both equally, there doesn't seem to be much point in have two erings. Just my opinion. You have a lovely quandry though!

I thought I would wake up with my decision made but nope .. sleeping on it didn't help. The AVC is actually .4 mm bigger than the other cushion but because of the shape and halo .. it looks roughly the same size. Most people still think the modern cushion is bigger. It is funny ... most "average" non diamond people I spoke to was able to tell immediately that the color of the AVC was whiter and appeared to be cut better.

Do you wear necklaces? It would look awesome in a necklace. Or do you have a RHR? I am not sure which one you are considering selling, is it the haloed one?

This is a hard one, Charmy, but I would probably sell it. You have your LM ring that you adore (and rightfully so!), so I feel like you wont be wearing this one much (especially b/c its the same shape too). But you have to do what your heart tells you to do!! Good luck with your decision!! :))

Honey, has no one ever told you not to sleep *on* your rings? It could damage the pave! 8)

I am a cheapo which is why I would sell it... the idea of "wasting" a diamond in the jewelry box just eats at my money grubbing heart.

I have to say, Charmy, you and I have about the exact same taste! I feel in love with the DK split crown when I first saw it and got the empress with is much like your MH ring! They really are both beautiful and I can see why it would be such a hard decision. If it were me, since you really love your LM ring and wear that one most of the time, I'd probably sell the other stone and put a colored stone in the MH and make it a RHR. But, that's just my .02. Since you don't have to sell, there really isn't any need to rush or do anything. you'll have a buyer for the MH stone now or later so just take your time. My grandmother used to always say, "when in doubt, don't" so that would be my advice. If you are unsure, just wait and hopefully it will become very clear when you have no doubts in the future! :))

If it were me, my decision would depend on how much I coveted whatever jewelry I might "replace" the second stone with. For example, if I'd always wanted to hunt for the perfect paraiba to halo or if I'd been dreaming of asscher earrings the sale could help me finance, it would be easier for me to let go of a special stone.

If I DIDN'T have my heart set on a next project, it would be hard to give it up!

Just curious: Are there any other cuts you really want to own down the line? Or are you mostly cushion crazy? :-)

Man I would so keep both.

I have two engagement rings and yes they are very different from each other, but even if they were similar I would keep both.

I like having different e rings and feel very privileged to have them.

Your rings are so beautiful. I can't imagine given them up, esp after you put so much effort into them. And diamond prices are going up too.

I may reluctantly support taking out the cushion and putting it in say, a pendant. But I wouldn't sell it outright.

I voted to keep it. Never, ever sell anything with sentimental value, especially when you don't need the money. JMHO.

You may have already addressed this, but what about wearing it as a RHR?? The 2 rings really do look like "sisters," as another poster said. You would have 2 amazing hands! If you sold the diamond and put a gemstone in the setting, it would still be used as a RHR, but just not as blingy as if you had kept the diamond in it.

I am curious, what inspired you to start the second engagement ring/diamond project to begin with? Did you just want 2 rings, or was there something missing for you with the first one? Did you start the Leon ring with the intention of selling the other ring? I am just a little confused. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE both rings, and I don't think there is anything wrong with having both, but I am just curious about your thought process?

I have no intention of selling my Maytal Hannah setting. It is only the diamond in question. I love the setting and I highly doubt I will ever be able to make another one like it. It took a lot of pain to get it there :)

It is a bit of a twisted story of how we ended up with two rings. Our original intention was to upgrade my first stone to a chunky cushion that is higher in color - I found out that I notice the warmth in the G and wanted to get into the E and F range. Then have Maytal remake the ering with the new stone because the original setting was just very far from what we asked for and I hated that setting. Maytal agreed to remake the ring because of her exceptional customer service.

I waited for 7 months for ERD to come up with something but I did not see a diamond that met my needs. During this time, GOG has perfected their AVC and I decided to go for it since I didn't want to wait anymore. Also, we came to the conclusion that Maytal Hannah's style is not well suited for the e-ring we wanted. Since she is going to remake my ering, we decided to make it into a Harry Winston Halo which is much more inline with her style. Then, we went to Leon for my AVC to make it into the original ering design we wanted because we both always knew that was what we wanted.

This is the story of how we ended up with 2 e-rings.

Thanks for the response, Charmy! In that case, would you keep the setting and put a gemstone in it? Or would you just keep the setting hanging around in a jewelry box? If you would put a gemstone in it and wear it as a RHR anyway, I would rather have a diamond RHR than a gemstone ring as a RHR :) Don't get me wrong, either would be great, but if I had my choice... :) Keep us posted!

hee hee... I have been around, just in the pregnancy thread most often. You need to get knocked up and hang out there too ;))

I've missed you too, it is nice to run into you for sure.

If I were in your shoes, I'd wear the LM /AVC, and keep the other ring in pristine condition to pass down as a family heirloom. Can you imagine how thrilled your son or daughter would be to get such a ring? You won't even have to give up the ring on your finger!
