Hi, you might remember me from https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ng-questionnaire-input-please-experts.179610/
Thanks to your great opinions I chose a 6mm round. I want to get a nice temp setting to put the diamond in now and later change for a colored gemstone. I want a bar head like Cartier and prefer platinum or 18k gold (prefer yellow with white head).
The Adwar1 is available in 14kwg for <$500, haven't asked about #2. I pretty much ruled out anything less than 18k, it doesn't feel right even for a temp. Maybe 18k all white gold would be less than the yellow/white combo, I could ask. The Stuller is only in Platinum. Share your comments, thoughts and suggestions.

Stuller Platinum. I think there is a good chance your temp will turn permanent so I think going with the platinum for only 200 more is a good option. I also think the slimmer shank will flatter your 6mm stone the most. My second choice is the middle setting Adwar 2 in white gold. 1000 is too much for a temp.

What diamond did you choose? Inquiring minds want to know.

The Stuller setting looks very elegant.

I found an August Vintage Old European in the right size. Hope its worth the premium.

I voted Stuller platinum. I am one of those who ended up having the temp turn into my permanent ring. Got engaged while while still in college and then came a house and two kids, etc., and it's been 14 years with my original "temp" setting. I'd have picked a different ring (and gone w/platinum) if I had known.

So many views, so few votes - surprising. Thanks for your feedback so far.

I think maybe I shouldn't have included the cost since I'd probably pick platinum regardless. I like the fact that the adwar is actual photos whereas Stuller is a computer image.

Stuller. Its lines are just more elegant than those on the other options.

This. Plus if it is for any length of time I would prefer platinum. :wavey:

Only time will tell if it turns permanent, but I love the idea of a colored stone in the setting later on. Recently I realized how much I love gold (.999) and will get us handmade pure gold wedding bands when it's time.

I know $1000 is a lot, but I keep thinking, it's only $300 more than the $700 setting. I went with the forum recommendation - yours in particular - for the diamond so I'll probably choose your your setting pic too. The description of shank style etc is really helpful, but can you tell me, if price wasn't a factor, would you still choose the Stuller?

Maybe not. I think the center setting has the nice shank taper toward the head of the Stuller, which I really like, BUT also has a more pronounced cross bar that's higher up on the stone... which I know you said she likes.

IF the shank on that setting (center one) is within .2 mm of the Stuller in width I'd prefer that one. If it's much thicker than .2mm over the Stuller, I think I'd prefer the Stuller.

Ask for the shank widths FOR YOUR STONE SIZE (usually varies by stone size). I think the best look would be a shank as close to 2mm as possible.
