Seeking a large Emerald Cut

Contact IDJ, mention that you are a PSer and tell them what you are looking for they have found some outstanding stones already cut for people, including at least two amazing looking large ECs that I am aware of.

@johnSD since you said your wife is a patient person I would just keep my feelers out and wait. I would keep checking high end pre-loved sites and trusted PS vendors as well, because you never know who will want to sell. And these aren’t always antique stones that are up for sale. So this may take 6 months to a year. Worth it if it means you get the stone of your dreams. Don’t rush it if you don’t have to. IDJ once had a gorgeous asscher that came up for sale because he had a client that wanted to sell. Never know when that might happen.

This.

What's meant for you won't pass you by, very true saying and wise words from LL, you and your wife are patient, it's a special and rare stone, you'll find the one.

Thanks everyone for continuing to chime in. Much appreciated. Busy for the next few days with work but will revisit soon. I have been in contact with ID Jewelry, they haven’t come up with anything that I have not already seen on pricescope or rarecarar. We are still talking to Jonathan about a custom EC. I have to say it sounds extremely encouraging and if something should happen to the rough stone during the cutting process we would not be held liable.
Will keep you all updated as things progress .

I am in total agreement with Diamondseeker. It's very risky and there's a potential for disappointment with commissioning a stone to be cut, as we have all borne witness when fellow Pricescope members have chosen to go that route and it didn't pan out exactly as planned. And those weren't emerald cut stones, which, in my opinion, vary to an even greater degree!
There are emerald cut stones and there are emerald cut stones and then... there are emerald cut stones! If you do Google Images for "Emerald Cut Diamonds", you will see a huge variation in size, color, cut, proportion and shape. Some may appeal to you and some may be less appealing. This is the best analogy I can give you. Because you can look at literally HUNDREDS of EC's before you see one or two that really sing to you. It's the same thing when you look at stones in person. There are so many different variables and, inevitably, even under the best circumstances, there are compromises to be made, whether it's price, the attributes of the stone, or availability.
You might find, like I did, that an emerald cut diamond in a color that you've looked for with all the specs "in line" still might not do it for you, emotionally. It might still not be "the one" and you'll want to keep looking.
If you've put all your eggs into one basket by having a stone custom cut, that stone could be everything you want ON PAPER, thus fulfilling the cutter's promises, yet not be the "best" stone for you! If that were me, I'd be kicking myself from here to the moon!!!
So, if it's at all possible, I recommend being very patient, working with one or two trusted vendors and having stones called in for you. Every day, the inventory changes! Something that wasn't there yesterday will be there today.
You WILL find "the one"! Keep looking! By the way, I worked very recently with IDJ and Shulamit, Yekutiel's sister, was determined to find what I was looking for and she did - I don't think she rested until she found it!!! Now, that's dedication! I highly recommend IDJ, and I have looked all over. Trust me!! :) Good luck!!!
