I have been all over the city ( I live in Mpls), searching for the perfect setting. I have a beautiful stone at a local jeweler-it is a little over 3 carats, and a round brilliant. Most every store I go to, has settings for a 1 carat stone, and that''s it. I keep trying to go simple, to show my stone, but I am so drawn to the halo designs. Everything I love has a halo. And everyone in the business tells me not to halo my stone, that it will look like a headlight on my hand! But with the simpler setting, I know myself well enough to know that I will want to add more to it-an eternity band or something, and I am really trying to find just one ring, with some substantialness to it. I tried to go with some nice pear sidestones, or small rounds, but those are going to put us over budget, and will leave me wanting an additional ring.

My finger size is about a 6 1/2, and I wear alot of larger jewelry-a small ring would be so out of character for me. My tag line should be more is better! I keep thinking that if all the classic designers are making these halo''d rings, they can''t be all that obnoxious. I know Leon does some fabulous pieces and those are all larger. I am thinking of incorporating a split shank design somehow too.

Has anyone seen any halo designs on a hand that have more of a ruffled collar look under the stone? I know Renaissance Platinum has some designs on the Sol. Bros. website, but I have never seen any one anyone. I was thinking that these were a little less distracting.

Any suggestions for me? This is for a 20th anniversary upgrade, so I guess I have earned my stripes! Just kidding lol, I think I am very lucky.

Can you go on line and search a bit? I think a halo is great, not sure what a three carat round would look like, and I love the one posted above...really pretty. But a halo might also look great depending how it is done...
