I just noticed that James Allen has our ring up on its website in 3D view. You can see it by going to the setting page:

At the bottom left of the page, it has a button for a 360 degree HD view entitled "MORE REAL PHOTOS." You can click on it and select the "1.74 carat I-VS1 Excellent cut Round Diamond" - that's our ring! Cool!

Thank you Niel and everyone on this forum for helping my boyfriend (whoops...i mean...MY fiancé!!!) find such a beautiful ring for me!!! His proposal was romantic and perfect and I'll remember the moment and the entire weekend forever. I am truly the luckiest girl in the world.

I've always imagined myself with a small and practical engagement ring...but once he gave me this one, the girly girl in me came out and amazingly, I was able to get used to this big ring quite easily! ;P (thanks Niel for pushing him to hurry up and at least get more information on the bigger stone before it got snatched up! hahaha) Not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined such a big and sparkly rock! But even more impressive, was when he shared with me everything he learned about diamonds and allllll the research he did in finding my dream ring! Knowing that he put in so much thought and effort into the search , makes this ring that much more special to me. <3

Now...for the wedding bands!! Yay! More presents! Any recommendations on Men's wedding bands? And any recommendations for a wedding band that matches MY particular setting? I liked the suggested band on the James Allen site...but since my ring tapers in towards the center stone, do you think the gap between the engagement ring and the wedding band would look strange? And do you think it would look too matchy matchy? Any recommendations on a wedding band that matches the setting but is a little more unique?

BTW...we sent the ring back today to be re-sized. Fortunately, I should get it back in two weeks! In the meantime, bjg just ordered me this joke ring to tide me over until my real ring comes back hahahaah

Holy cow her finger is so tiny the stone looks huge!!

Im so glad she loves it. I hope the sizing goes fast so she can get it back asap. With that big of sizing I wonder if they just give you a whole new setting.

I just heard back from my customer service rep at James Allen, and he mentioned that they will likely need to make a completely new ring, due to the large difference in size. Thankfully, there will be no charge for the resizing, whether it's a completely new setting or changing the existing setting.

By the way, I showed my girlfriend/fiancee this thread, and she really liked reading about all the research from getting the diamond, and the feedback provided by you and stargurl. She was also happy that you recommended the larger sized diamond. She loves the big size (even though she said she would have been happy with a 0.5 carat diamond).

A lady after my own heart. I'm sure she loves all the timeand effort you put into her ring!

What i would do is start 2 new threads. One on this Rocky Talky side about your wedding bands. Youll get more answers in a new thread with a title about wedding bands, sense people dont think thats what this thread is about.

then i would start a thread over here in SMTB so more people see that beautiful ring!



As for your questions. I prefer a mismatch wedding set, doesnt look like you bought them both at the same place or time, so i think you could get one that isnt exactly the same and it still look good. Also, I dont but i know there are a handful of people with tapered wedding bands, and i dont think they look strange at all. If you wanted to see what tehy looked like, you could start a thread over in SMTB with a title like "show me your tapered e ring and wedding band!" or something, and im sure people would have pictures to show you.

As for mens rings thats a little tricky, youll have to decide what he wants and wants to spend. JA seems to have nice ones, so does a website called eweddingbands. Sholdt also makes cool onces but they are a bit more expensive, and also classic ones like a Tiffany's would always be nice.


I hope you show some people your "temp" ring and tell them thats what he got you for real. See what people say , even though they will still say something nice i bet.


Even if he had gotten you a .5 ct ring, it still would have looked fantastic on your tiny little hands, but I love to see a gal get exactly what she wants without having to go out and get it herself.

The simple elegance of a stone that substantial in that blingy solitaire, is fabulous! Congrats to you both. Can't wait to see what wedding bands you pick. Hi Niel! Yeah i like your recommendation of a mismatch wedding set! That's exactly what i'm going to do! As for the fake ring...a few people DID think it was my real ring. They tried to be nice about it and told me it was pretty. But they were definitely relieved for me when I told them it was just my temporary $10 ring. HAHAHA It's been two weeks without my ring! But it comes tomorrow so I'm working from home just so I can get it ASAP! It's going to be the longest day ever!!

Thanks Hearts-Arrows_girl! I'm so glad he chose that stone too! I like the "simple elegance" of it too!! It's so cool that everyone on this forum was so great with giving feedback on all the different stones and then getting the gemologist to confirm all the specs. The internet is awesome! HAHA My ring comes tomorrow and I can't wait! The cutest part is....bjg can't wait either! He is just as excited about the ring as I am! hahaha And yes...we'll definitely post more pictures of the re-sized ring! We haven't really started shopping for wedding bands yet. We have a lot of time for that...i need to find a dress first! ...But bjg knows he wants a very plain platinum band and I am with Niel on getting something a little mismatched. Something vintage maybe.

What's fun is once you get it you can go into stores and try on all sorts of bands to see which look best together, (then but it online for cheaper )
