Hello to everyone!

Although there have been several topics on loupes.... I would like to ask for your opinion on Schneider loupe?
In general I prefer japanese optics and as for the loupe I an very happy with my Nikon triplet.
I have never seen Schneider... Is it really better than Nikon (for someone in trade)?
Many thanks.

Any thoughts? :wink2:

No comparisons.
The issue is..., to reach full potential and notice the difference you must work on a daily basis with it...
Hope this helps.

Thank you.
I would be happy to compare, but can´t till I buy the Schneider :-) I work daily with my Nikon and I am more or less satisfied with it, however I am deciding whether or not purchasing Schneider as upgrade...

This thread has some other comments on the Schneider from pros. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/most-recommended-10x-jeweller-loupe-carl-zeiss.123415/

I have a Harald Schneider loupe but am not a pro and have no experience with the Nikon loupe.
I got spoiled by uber-fine German optics when I worked in a laboratory.

I strongly suspect you get what you pay for, though whether it's "worth it" is a complex question, and answers to that question will vary with the person.

Since you already have the Nikon perhaps you could buy it from a vendor with a money-back guarantee.
If you are close to a major city you may carry your Nikon into a Jewelry Supply Store that sells the Harald Schneider to compare them side by side.

As long as you're shopping in the high end the Swiss-Axe Triple Hawk is considerably more expensive than the Schneider.

. . . and the Harald Schneider Gemology Pro is even more expensive.

Thank you very much. In the end I purchased Schneider.
I prefer it to Swiss Axe, because I do not know who makes the optics for Swiss Axe. They told me the optics is from Germany, nothing more.

True, but the feedback's on them is promising, i am about to try them out.

DiaGem, please give us your review of the Swill Axe. :wavey:

To be honest, I do not much believe the loupe is as good as Schneider.
First of all, the most experienced diamond loupes producer is Harald Schneider. Absolutely. And he doesn´t make the optics for Swiss Axe. OK. But who does? Why it isn´t declared? And why in Swiss Axe they (tete-a-tete) say the optics IS from Harald Schneider (which is not true)? Strange, isn´t it?
I believe Swiss Axe loupe is really good. But do not believe that it is as good as Harald Schneider.

By the way, the new Harald Schneider loupe (L2) was developed and is going to be available in November. Even of a higher quality than previous models. Can´t imagine how the quality could be higher :-) But I am sure it is.

Do you find a L1 (GemologyPro) model of the Harald Schneider loupe much improved compared with the previous "classic hexagonal" model? :-) I am using now the L1, but the previous model I used only few times.
What do you think?

Has anyone tried Swiss Axe Triplet Hawk and/or compared it with the Schneider?

Beware of Original schneider loupe copys!! i got scammed by http://www.aajewelry.com/
i was lied too and a cheated beware !!
:angryfire:

Sorry for ressurecting the thread.

Just wanted to share some experience. I have used Zeiss, Nikon, Belomo, Schneider 18mm, Schneider 20mm (GemologyPro) and a 18mm (fake) Schneider distributed by Rubin and Son.

Basically all except Belomo provide a great crisp image (no much difference in terms of sharpness/crispness), 2 of them (Zeiss and Nikon) are very small 13mm so the depth of image is way different than in case of Schneider and Belomo, the difference comparing to them in this area is huge.

Belomo is a great value loupe, anti-reflection coated but the image is not as sharp as in case Nikon/Zeiss/Schneider (which are 3-10x more expensive though).

Schneider loupe is an excellent choice, but in my opinion rather in terms of depth because in terms of sharpness/crispness Nikon/Zeiss are comparable. In case of 20mm L1 (GemologyPro) close to the edges the image is not as sharp imo, 18 mm loupe is a better (better "tuned") option.

Schneider loupe "Original Schneider" sold by Rubin is a fake. It is a good loupe, but not as good as the original HARALD Schneider loupe being close in price, they are parasitizing on Harald Schneider (which is THAT famous Schneider loupe, unlike the one sold by Rubin), so if you are buying Schneider check it is "Harald Schneider 1949".

My personal choice in terms of value is Nikon.

Zeiss is made in Belarus btw.

Has anybody tried Schneider L2 or Swiss Axe Triplet Hawk?
