The Sarin machine measures the diamonds "Cut"
giving you meaurements for Table, Crown, Crown Height,
Pavilion, Girdle, and Culet. The analysis is
pegged to the AGS Cut grading standard which is
modeled after Towlkowsky's formulations and is the current benchmark. This machine as well as its competitor
the MegaScope, manufactured by OGI give you these
"averages" and are also capable of giving you more
detailed sophisticated analyses on the diamonds cut
for every facet. The more detailed analyses are
grist for the mill for "Cut Geeks" and have been
directly correlated with the diamonds light output.
The BrillianceScope is a machine manufactured
by Gemex Systems in Wisconsin that measures a diamonds
Brilliance, Fire, and Scintillation. results are
displayed in two ways:
1. Bar graphs for each of the above mentioned measures,
2. 5 light views taken from different angles that
shows you the location(s), intensity, and blend
of white light, colored light, and scintillation.
The BScope has a variability of + /- .2% in the depiction
of the bars. More informative to you as a consumer is to
carefully examine the 5 light view positions.
Some retail Jewelers have one or both of these machines in
house. Several Diamond Manufacturer/Dealers have both
and will automatically provide you with these data.
Here on the Internet, there are a handful of Vendors
(of which we are one) that supply these data for you.
