I think that it''s a pretty setting but I''m not crazy about the heart shaped stone to be honest. What''s been frustrating about finding a diamond? Perhaps we can help?!

I think you could probably get a better quality one than that, but I love the idea of a sapphire engagement ring! I am not sure it is very common outside of pricescope, but I think sapphires make beautiful e-rings! I'll try to find some others for you.

Well, these are above your budget, but it gives you an idea of how colored stones look in engagement rings.

Jeff White could probably cut you a beautiful sapphire if you found a setting you liked for it. He is away at the Tuscon gem show right now, but you can see the quality of his work. I think you could definitely get a larger sapphire than diamond. But I wouldn't do it unless you get a good quality one.

I think sapphire e-rings are a wonderful idea. I love Beverly K... so pretty!

It's not that common outside of PS (which may be a good thing in your opinion, or not) but, FWIW, someone I know got a gemstone e-ring and lots of non-PSers LOVE it!

Redrose, I think having a sapphire ering is pretty neat. Heart shaped stones aren''t very popular on PS but I really like them. Yes, other shapes offer more brilliance but I do like them. I think the set you have picked out is really pretty and it is something you really love, I think you''d be very happy with it.

Also, as offered above you will have lots of help finding a diamond or anything else you want.

I think if you''re getting frustered, prehaps you should take a step back for a day or so. When you''re feel overwhelmed, or disappointed, or frustered, that is certainly not the time to be making the big decision concerning the ring you''ll wear for a very, very, very long time.

As far as the ring you posted...I really like the setting, esspecially with the wedding band, it''s awesome. I am not a gemstone ering kinda gal, nor do I love a heart shaped stone diamond or otherwise...but the ring you''re considering is very pretty, and interesting. I know a few friends who have gemstone erings, rubies or saphs, and they are absolutely lovely!

Everyone here is willing to put in time to help you out if you need a break or a helping hand...just let us know!

Sapphires are good stones for an ering as they are quite hard, but if you use your hands a lot it will still get scratched.

If you like the shape of the stone and you don''t want a diamond ering then this would be lovely ring. The setting is beautiful.

Good luck and I agree with the advice above-we are more than happy to help!

I''d post this in the Coloured Stones section - you''ll likely get more responses.

I contacted Jonathan and ERD and a few other diamond vendors to help me find an engagement ring diamond. So, I am trying to let them do all of the work and I have a few weeks to wait it out. I bought a mounting for my ring this is a pic of it. I talked to my finace last night(after posting this) and he said that we can find out how much more a diamond that I want it. I want an ideal cut .7-.75 cushion cut diamond but Jonathan said we can not find that in my pricerange of 1550.00. So i emailed Jonathan and hopefully we''ll get a response in sometime soon. I want to wait until I get my setting in the mail (should only be like 2 to 2/1/2 wks to get it so I can get the diamonds mailed to an appraiser so I can view them IN the setting before I choose. Any help looking would be great!

redrose, I have watched you consider (some at the same time) rounds, cushions, radiants, and now this. You don't even know what you want. Do you even know what you like?? I'm sorry, I do not mean to be mean here, but in all my time here I have NEVER seen anyone buy an important purchase like this and not know what they wanted, not seem to care, and just wanted to buy something that was a good deal. My biggest fear is that approaching this the way you are, you are indeed going to be sorry down the road, and regret whatever it is you end up with, and want something else.

My first piece of advice is, SLOW DOWN. This is not something to be rushed. It's an ERING.

I will reiterate the advice I gave you awhile back. Decide on exactly what it is you want, and then search for it.

And thirdly, should you not heed the prior advice, buy from a place that will allow you to tade in/up, you will need it.

I love the setting you ordered! I think the wisest thing at this point is to find a diamond to fit it. What size head did you order in the ring? It is really best to buy the stone first and then the setting, but we''d need to know the size stone the ring takes. And by that I mean the diameter in milimeters.

Ellen has a point honey....we see you chasing your tail running in circles. Whew....lets get our bearing...regroup and figure out what is going to make your heart go pitter patter. Okay? If you narrow it down, you have so many willing to search and DESTROY for you. Weed out the bad ones and get to the good ones.

It is great that you are considering a colored stone...that gives us more size and more options. But it is possible we can find you a diamond that you will love, so don''t toss that idea out just yet.

Do you have time to visit local jewelry stores? Try on EVERY thing you like. I mean even try on 2 carats. I don''t care what stone-diamond, emerald, sapphire, round, square, oblong- try on the size stones you like. Then we can figure a way to get you as close to your desire and stop you going in circles. But you have got to put a little "hands on" time into this so you can get focused.

FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS so the board can do some Hocus Pocus and magic and help find what you REELLY want. Okay? §

DKS, you''re really going to have her confused if you tell her to try on 2 ct. stones when she has a $1500 budget!

She is going to get more spread with a round, but it sounds like she really wants a cushion. That''s just going to mean going to at least J SI to get a stone that is in the right price range. I am sure Jon or Mark can find you one.

DS...We can find large colored stones for less can't we? I agree I thought the cushion would prevail but we are now at a Blue heart...we can get something blue but larger than a white diamond...right?

ETA: Here are better examples of color than the blue heart...One may get the that ring, (I don't know the price of the heart one) and place one of these stones in that setting. Yes, color isn't going to get you the hardness you want. But you are going to get the size. From what I read in your frustration is that you can't get a cushion diamond for your price range...but you were willing to go to a blue COLOR heart shape. I am just trying to say, if you are willing to go color, get back on the cushion board and get the size your heart wanted.

Ellen, Yes I agree I also see the heart shape cushion posts. But overall a review of the posts still indicate indecisiveness. I am just trying to encourage her color willingness...to get the shape of her beloved cushion...with the willingness to go COLOR!! Woo HOO! It can be done...

Actually, 2 1/2 hours after posting the blue heart, she''s back to a cushion. I didn''t realize that until ds posted. I mean, even given everything else, I wouldn''t have guessed that, but maybe I should have. And I thought about my post to her, but it basically still stands. I''m not convinced at all she knows what she wants....

But, I could be wrong.

Yes, her last post was back to a cushion:

I think she just got discouraged because what she really wants is not going to happen in a $1500 budget. That''s probably why she had to jump back to the sapphire set because she was frustrated not being able to find a diamond. But that sapphire set does not look like good quality, so that was not going to work either.

I really think Jon or Mark can find her cushion. But I think she needed to wait and get the setting after finding the stone, because the stone may be smaller than she wants if she can''t increase the budget. I just think there are some guys who don''t value jewelry and don''t have a clue how much diamonds cost.

DS and Ellen...I edited my post above...again I came into this thread as it was titled...SAPPHIRE ERING!!! Oh yeah baby! I can yack about that! Just not thrilled about the small blue heart she found...just encouraged her to dig deeper!!
