Hi everyone,

It''s been awhile since I last posted. I have been lurking though...lol. I have a questions about rose gold. I''m in the market for a pretty peachy/pink (kunzite/morganite) stone and I think rose gold would do it justice. The problem is, I just don''t see a lot of settings in rose gold. Is it just not very poular anymore? I have enough white and yellow gold...I want rose!!! If anyone knows of a good jeweler, or some nice settings you''ve seen, please let me know.

Thanks!!!

I don''t know what your budget is, but pearlmans.com has some nice rose gold settings. I also know thenaturalsapphirecompany.com does rose gold and you don''t have to order one of their stones to get one, they sell empty mounts. Obviously the workmanship on those pieces will be nice, but you''re paying more. However, if you''re on a tight budget, or you just don''t want to spend more than a few hundred dollars on a rose gold setting, then these ebay dealers have decent settings and you can request 14 or 18K rose gold for any of their settings.

Lord_of_Gem_Rings - (do a search on LOGR in this forum, and you will see lots of mixed reviews on his settings, but he does rose gold by request). I have a rose gold setting by this dealer, that I love, but I made sure I got upgraded diamonds. Here are some pictures of it in this link.

I think the biggest complaints are the inconsistencies with diamond quality unless you upgrade, and stones falling out, or the prongs not put on right, and he just significantly increased his prices.

Jewe2004 - (mixed reviews on PS)

Lan.bo4 - (he doesn''t sell as much as the other two above, but he has 100% positivie feedback on ebay and I just ordered a two tone rose/white setting from him so we''ll see how that turns out).

Thanks much!! One questions regarding LOGR settings...waht do you mean you had the stones upgraded? Is that something that is alot more costly?

He (LOGR) typically uses I to SI stones as a default on his settings. He'll claim they're SI, but a lot of people thought many of their settings had I-grade or cloudy stones. SI should still sparkle. Some of us have recieved his SI stones and thought they sparkled and were great, including myself. There seems to be some inconsistancy on his diamond grades as well. Therefore, he indicates that if you want to upgrade to his VS (not sure if they're true VS, but that's what he says), there will be a charge to do so. You need to find out the exact charge by emailing him through your ebay user id account if you're interested in a particular setting.

The big source of contention for me with the LOGR settings, is that not only have the base prices gone up, but also the cost of the diamond upgrade. I think it used to be $199/ct to upgrade, but I believe it's now at least $249/ct to upgrade (sometimes higher if you want pave). Now lan.bo4, with the last setting I purchased, wanted much less to upgrade the diamonds on a mounting with 60 points of diamonds. That being said, I still don't know how my setting will turn out with lan.bo4, so I'm taking a chance here.

You can also pay extra to upgrade the gold on the LOGR settings. It's around $12/gram (I think) to upgrade the gold from 14K to 18K. You need to email him to find out the exact cost for any setting with your specific upgrades. It also is $10 to resize a ring from the default size. However, if you want your gold to be redder, you can stick with 14K. If you want a warmer more subdued rose gold look, you might want to go with 18K.

Oh yes, he also charges a specific $50 fee just for resizing the head, or other specific detailed changes to the setting besides resizing and gold color. For example, I had to pay $50 to have the head size changed to fit my stone's measurments, or if I wanted a two tone look, it would be $50 extra (but not $50 extra to do the whole mount in one color of gold). I asked lan.bo4 to do rose gold head and a white gold band on my mount, and he only wanted $10 extra.

HTH.
