I am in the process of getting my 2.56 Peachy Gray Cleftless Heart diamond set. Originally, I was going to change just the head on my current e-ring (platinum), but a lot of PS members mentioned rose gold to enhance the stone. Rose gold never occured to me until now, and I am loving it! I''ve searched threads for "rose gold", but I just can''t find enough colored stones with rose gold. I am attaching pics of the setting I am interested in, as well as the shape of the head.

My question is, what will enhance the pink/peach tones of the stone? Rose gold prongs, a rose gold head or an all-rose-gold setting?

Thanks!

I''ve found that it''s a question of balance between bringing out the color of the stone and giving some contrast to make the stone pop. So I chose the rose gold head with white gold shank.

Thanks, Upgradable. I am leaning towards a full rose gold setting with bead-set white diamond sidestones for contrast.

Here is a side view of the setting I am considering.

This is what the head will look like.

I''m riding shotgun with upgradeable. I think a full rose gold head will really enhance the pink/peach hues of your diamond. A full bezel with or without a halo would be for a max effect, but prongs at the very least, just to call it out and make it special. I''m also of the opinion that yellow diamonds should ideally be set in yellow gold baskets/heads too.

Here''s a for instance for ya - I have a scant 1ct fancy light yellow princess - I originally set it in a white gold setting with tiny bead-set diamonds on the shank and surrounding the stone, with just yellow gold prongs holding the yellow diamond in the center. Honestly, it did nothing for the color of the stone, the diamond really looked just ''tinty'' and not very fancy at all

I was bummed to say the least! After doing some more research, I found that especially with fancies that are on the lighter end of the intensity of color spectrum, it is really important to set the diamond in a complementary color of metal to further enhance that fancy shade. After seeing some other diamonds that were also graded FLY but set in those types of settings, WOW is there a difference in how the color of the stone appears. Like night and day.

So I''m currently searching for a new setting for that stone, and this time I will only consider settings with a full yellow bezel and/or yellow halo, depending on what I decide to get.

I voted full rose gold. There should be no maintenance issues with this option (rhodium replating).

GA, thank you for the input. This is my first colored diamond and I never considered metal color until now. And a 1ct FLY is not scant at all! Would you happen to have a pic of your FLY ring? I bet it''s stunning!

Actually, I do! To my surprise no less! (I only thought I had copies saved on my old notebook which is now dead) - but I found this one on an old shutterfly album!

Just so I don''t seem like I''m full of it, the color is actually much more intense in this picture than it appears 90% of the time - the best lighting for showing off the yellow in this diamond is indoor lighting at night, which of course is when the picture was taken

Most of the time, especially outside during the day, the color is a very pale lemony-yellow that is not done any justice by not having it surrounded by yellow metal and/or melee diamonds. Hence my reasoning in the earlier post

Oh MY, that is stunning!! You should definitely post that in the SMTR and Colored Stone forum

. I can definitely see the fancy yellow color. Mine also looks more lemony-peach in the daytime and peachy-champagne at night. But I can totally see your FLY "pop" in a solid yellow gold head with intense yellow melee!

I voted: A white metal setting with a full rose gold head.

But I didn''t see the setting in question prior to voting. I agree that the side melee diamonds should be white for contrast. I think an all RG setting would be great too, but I like the idea of a white shank/white metal for the melee, and then rose gold prongs/head for the amazing stone!

I think going all RG would be nice, but I don''t know if the melee (white) would pop as much with RG prongs? Not sure if my "view" on the matter is correct, but that''s what comes to mind from seeing rings in person. Good luck and post pics when it''s done.
