OK this is probably a silly idea but I''m either gonna eat every bucket of ice cream within a 20mile radius, OR, I need a place to cope....

What are you doing to alleviate the anxiety of the wait?

MissPinky and I are counting sleeps (I think we''re at somewhere around 20 or so...........)

WF is sending me pics and CAD come on Monday, but in the meantime, I''m having a hard time concentrating.

I wonder which is worse: waiting for your FI to do his thing, or, to be the person in charge of the ring purchase (ER or otherwise!)?

any thoughts?

LS

It''s worse to be here and not be able to wait...but to have to, and know that all we get is just a few photos!

I think waiting in all forms is frustrating, whether for a surprise ring or for one you designed yourself. However, I will say that waiting for a piece you have been so intimately involved in designing is like waiting for a baby to be born (and I have a beautiful 5 month old girl so I can say that from firsthand experience). You can look at drawings all you want, but you still wonder exactly what it will look like, if it will turn out exactly how you imagined, when it will come, etc., etc.

I think I''m going to take up knitting or something to help pass the time...

I have a couple of stones being evaluated for setting at my jeweler. I just dropped by today to check on them, but nothing so far.

I suggest long walks, cleaning the house, and check in often with your PS friends.

I..I wasn''t eating ice cream.... Not unless McFlurrys count...

My engagement ring is being reset, and I have serious naked finger syndrome over here. I''ve been wearing a silver band but - but - it''s not my ring.

I think waiting for the husband to propose was definitely harder (I didn''t help with my ring, so it was a total surprise, but he slipped at a party and told me he had something at the jewelers... I jumped at my own shadow for 3 weeks after that).

At the same time, I''m incredibly nervous about what the finished ring is going to look like. What if I messed up and the reset sucks when my original set was beautiful already? I picked it out - if it sucks, I''m stuck with it. Oy.

Ice cream good... PS buddies are better.

Not to mention the heirloom sapphires being reset. Oy.

Pass the Gin...

I am right there with you gals! NOw that I got my gorgeous sapphire. I have to wait a LOOONG while to have it set. I hope to have it started on within about 7 months. The only consulation for me is ice cream and figuring out a design to set it in!!!!

ONly a few more weeks LS and MP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Waiting... anticipation... the excitement, is all part of the whole... (which is what makes it so GREAT!!)

But, I know it can get frustrating, because you are just so excited to get your ring....

How about watching a little "So you think you can dance?" you can then post on the thread (at least a "non-ring" thread) to take your mind off the anticipation... Fluff TV is always a great distraction.

oooooohhhh so you think you can dance is my fav! I know the guy who won the first season (Nick)...great distraction!

YES!! So you think you can dance is coming on soon and hopefully it will help take my mind off the stone I just picked for at least an hour. But I''m sure Mary will have some bling on and then I will be back on PS thinking about the stone.

Its just after so much research and reading and looking at at least 20 stones, I just want mine in my hand. To think its in someone''s office waiting for a some metal to be melted! Oh well...enough venting. I am on day one of a 2-3 week wait. I need to take up like 5 new hobbies!

Fly Girl: thanks for recommending this thread!

LostSapphire: Great idea!!!

Yeah, but I think I''ve got it in the wrong section (mea culpa, again...). Should probably be in Hangout.

I''ll e-mail the mods...

Cleaning house !!???!!
I''d almost rather give up sparklies than participate in that

So far I''m waiting on a Vatche reset through Winfields, and a tourmaline in shipping. Patience is NOT one of purrfectpear''s virtues

I am currently waiting for a 1.7c cushion cut aqua to be set into a ring that I designed and it is haaard.

It helps to spend lots of time on pricescope oggling all the other goodies.

OK I made it through another night......................

LOL. We can do it!

Seriously, this thread was a great idea.

I''m trying not to think about it overly much since my wait time is about 2 months.

2 months?!?!!? Geez--I think I would have to take up a serious hobby like learning another language to survive that long.

So true... so true....

Jeweler called with a preliminary wax for my ruby. I ran over there, made some comments, and revisions will be ready on Tuesday.

He still can''t figure out how to set my 9-sided garnet.

Well, I should keep busy by going back to work now....

Yay fun!
What''s the hold up with the garnet?

Work is overrated...

Can I play? I don''t even have my stone yet, so I have a LOOOOOOONG wait! (Maybe that means I get to eat lots of ice cream?!?!)

And Dani, soft-serve doesn''t count . . . McFlurries included!

FlyGirl, can I see your nine-sided garnet? That just sounds SO cool!!!

Here is a picture of the garnet. There are 6 longer sides, and three shorter ones. I''m wondering if it is about protecting the points, but not overdoing it with nine prongs. Stone is just over 2 1/2 ct, and is a sister to the ten-sided one Babyblue003 got (Babyblue003''s Beautiful Garnet).

FlyGirl, it''s GORGEOUS!!! I had never seen a stone cut with nine sides before . . . very unique!!!

Thanks Irishgrrrl! My jeweler will figure something out, I''m sure. I''m not into pave, prefer a cleaner look.

Oh wow! That is beautiful! And I now see the problem with setting it. What about a really thin bezel?

I'd be open to that. We'll see.

ETA--Time for ice cream!

Well I''m having my engagement diamond recut and I haven''t even sent it out yet!!! I already have butterflies in my stomach-- which LostSapphire was nice enough to help me with in my "ISABELLE" thread. So pretty soon (already) I will be anxiously waiting with you all. Happy waiting everyone!

Oh, that would make me very nervous. That's major surgery. I'm just looking for my stone to put on a pretty dress.

Hang in there, Kelli!!

Hang in there ladies...just breathe and think of bling.

Ps. nothing is worse than spending all of your meager budget on the center stone for your ring and then realizing just how long it will take you to save up for the setting that you crave....sooooo long. Yet the worst part is how often you change your mind durring the waiting sometimes I drive myself nuts drooling over all the amazing pieces of art on this site.

But I know that you guys can do it good luck.

I''m going nuts trying to figure out what to do with my Jeff White asscher spinel and my Mom''s diamond....both posted in other threads!

Once I think I''ve decided on something, I get cold feet and then see something else I love and then figure out that it costs too much and my budget takes another hit....UGGG.....instead of finding settings for the stones I already have, I''m looking for new loose stones! I can''t stand the thought of my precious stones being away for so long and not knowing what is happening to them.

I''m also enjoying Blue Bell peach and homemade vanilla ice cream in the meantime....YUM!
