Ring with beautiful sapphire, but P2/3 (I2/3) diamonds?

I've been looking at rings for ideas to reset a sapphire I already own. Instead, of course, I've found a really stunning vintage sapphire ring I'm now considering buying.

On the plus side, the sapphire looks gorgeous, the price seems fair, and I love the overall design.

The downside? The accent diamonds are low quality; graded P2/3 (i.e. equivalent to I2/3). There's a lot of them, too -- 12 baguettes and 32 brilliant cut -- so I'm worried they'll mar the overall look of the ring.

I haven't seen the ring in person yet; it's located in another city, though as luck would have it, I'll likely be passing through in the next month or two, so I should be able to see it in person before I buy. (The most I've ever spent on jewelry I've bought online without seeing it in person is under $300, and this is considerably more, which makes me nervous about buying it unseen.)

I'm newish to buying vintage jewelry, so any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Bumping to ask again...

Would the experienced vintage jewelry buyers on here consider a ring with I2/3 diamond accent stones, if you liked the overall design and it had a very pretty (though heat-treated) sapphire?

Thanks to anyone with advice/tips.

I would see the ring in person to see if the sapphire really looks that good in person, why put a good sapphire with bad diamonds?
I wouldn't advise you to buy this ring unless you think the value of the sapphire alone is worth 3000, the rest is garbage

I do not consider the design vintage but that it is an estate piece (used and older in design but not old enough to be considered antique). There is no mention of treatment of the sapphire and given the price, I would presume heat at the very least, possibly more than heat. Given the quality of the setting and the fact that the return/refund policy is nil, this would not be a ring I would consider purchasing.

+1 for Chrono's post

Thanks everyone for the advice.

The ring looked really pretty in the pics online, and very reasonably priced for the size of the sapphire, weight of diamonds, etc... but the more info I've got about it, the more misgivings I've had.

Chrono, you are absolutely right that the sapphire's heat-treated; I asked the seller outright and they said yes.

If it looks too good to be true... ;)
