My boyfriend will be ordering my ring today (!!) and I'm having some trouble deciding on what ring size he should order. A 4.25 fits fine now, but I'm concerned that during the summer it may be too snug. The 4.5 felt okay, but both jewelers we saw that that it would be too loose. The 4.5 still catches on my knuckle a little bit, but seems more comfortable. I don't want to lose my ring (obviously), but I don't want the "squished finger" look. I'm planning on wearing two thin bands on either side of my ring once we get married.

Thoughts on which size to order?

I never, ever wear rings that scrape over my knuckle when I'm putting them on. I have knobby knuckles, and to me, scraping over my knuckle when I put it on means it is too small. That always means the ring is a little loose on the part of the finger where I wear it. Adding more bands will make the ring fit more snugly, so I would go with the 4.5. (Which, coincidentally, is also the size my e-ring is.)

Ditto. I am also a fan of sizing beads if the ring fits, but still spins a little. Beads give you much more flexibility with changes in the weather.i would also go with the 4.5 since you will be adding bands.
