Not a problem... I know those kinds of stories tend to get lost in translation. Although I actually just went back and looked at your previous posts to see if you seemed like a mean-spirited poster. You didn't, so I assumed you meant well!!

Just a frame of reference, When I was engaged many years ago I actually got into a HUGe fight with my then fiancee. HUGE, HUGE, HUGE. So big I took the ring off and handed it back to him. And I was ready to break up. And it was not mock fighting either. I was ready to call the whole thing off. But he would not take it. He refused the ring.

Long story short, here we are 11 years and 4 kids later and I''m glad he did not take back the ring!

Ephemery, glad to hear it''s a mock fight, and that he doesn''t take it personally. I do think it''s kind of odd though...I just wouldn''t joke about something like that. My FI put it on my finger and he doesn''t want to hear anything, joke or otherwise, about me giving it back or not marrying him. And we''re both pretty laid back, dorky, jokey people.

It''s probably because we have gotten into fights after our engagement where I''ve wanted to rip the thing off and throw it back at him, so I know I''d better just keep it where it is. I actually know of engagements that never recovered after the woman left the ring in the man''s apartment (although she said she "forgot" it after their argument). Up until you get married, the ring for many becomes a symbol of your commitment...and for many men, not to be taken lightly. Especially because for many of them it took so long to get there! LOL....
