Ring resizing pros and cons

So I am ready to purchase a ring and am picking out the diamond tomorrow. The company that makes the ring said they have one currently but it is a size 6.5 and my girlfriend wears a size 5. They said they would be able to make a new one in size 5, but it would take longer to do.

I was wondering if there are any negative effects if I get the 6.5 resized down to a 5? Are there any possible long term effects on the ring (i.e. not being able to resize it again, proportions look bad, less durable).

There are diamond on the ring so I dont know how that will be effected if it is resized?

Please help me with any information/experiences you might have.

With all of those small stones and the fact that it needs to go down 1.5 sizes I would say you are better off getting a new one made and waiting. Better to wait now than have stones start popping out later and need to deal with that.

How much longer will it take? Since this is a brand new setting, it is best to get a new one made specifically in her size so that the stones are more secure.
