The other day I noticed that my 5 stone that I purchased over the summer through WhiteFlash has a very loose stone. I can actually move it.
I guess I must have banged it at some point and you can see where the prong is actually moved i guess? and no longer on the diamond.
I''m wondering what to do.
Should I send it back to whiteflash to get fixed or take it to a local jeweler tomorrow. I''m in NY and not sure how long the whole thing would take if i need to send it back.
On the other hand, I''m not completely comfortable letting another jeweler work on it either.
I emailed whiteflash earlier today but since they''re not open on the weekends, guess i won''t get a response til later in the week. In the meantime, It''s driving me crazy that I can''t wear it.

What would you guys do? Send it back or let someone local work on it?

elle, I just worry about voiding the lifetime warranty by having somebody else work on it. WF has had mine a couple of times, and it always comes back looking brand new. I just don''t think that I personally could do it. I would have to send it back for my own peace of mind.

Thanks for responding Shay.

I read about their lifetime warranty but I got the impression it only applies to defective manufacturing. So if the stone''s loose due to normal wear and
tear, I''d still have to pay for it to be fixed. Not sure what else it covers?

Yes, but if at any point porosity showed up, say in a prong after being worked on exposed it, the warranty is now void.

So the warranty still only covers manufacturers defects. I mean if it is wear and tear (which i''m assuming it usually is) i''m out of luck anyway and paying. I''m fine with that and expect it. So I''m not sure if having someone else fix it will void something that''s probably not covered anyway?

I''m asking this because I''m looking for the quickest way to get this fixed. If there have been know instances of a manufacturing problem after nearly 6 months of wear, i''ll gladly send it back. But in reality, would i really void a ''Lifetime Warranty" that doesn''t cover well, pretty much anything?

Maybe someone from Whiteflash can respond or someone that''s bought online and needed to get a repair.

Have you tried emailing Whiteflash? It might be worth asking what they would say about getting someone local to take a look. They have been pretty accomodating when I''ve bought stuff, but I''m sorry I can''t be more help because nothing has needed to go back to them.

I''m sorry about your ring!

elle chris, we normally wouldn’t see your email until tomorrow as we aren’t open on the weekends, but I had some catch-up to do and saw it. Please check your email as I’ve sent a preliminary reply to you, and you can expect a follow-up call from your WF salesperson in the morning.

I would definitely send it back to WF. I wouldn''t trust anyone else to make the repair since they don''t *know* the ring as well as WF. I also wouldn''t want to void the WF warantee. Besides the shipping, the repair shouldn''t really be a huge deal.
