Ring is ready! Only problem? I'm not crazy about it.

Once again this is proof you should not judge before you see it in person... or see the video in this case ;))

Your girlfriend is going to LOSE HER MARBLES when she sees it!! She will go bananas. It is amazing. Love the profile. For the money you spent on the setting, it looks really really good to me.

I swayed along to the music, delighted to see how beautifully proportioned the ring looked and how the rose gold colour receded in the face on shots. I think that diamond is a real stand out beauty too.

Love it!! Like an elevated version of the inspiration ring. How great that it all turned out!
Pop the question ASAP don't make her wait to show off that beauty! ( or for us to see hand shots ;) )

I just wanted to chime in, although I'm glad to see it looks like you've changed your mind! I have a Gabriel and Co setting, (a different one, no halo, but it does have pave) and whenever I try to photograph it I'm disappointed in how bulky it looks and all the metal showing. But in real life, I get a ton of compliments on it and it is quite delicate and sparkly. Your fiance will love it! I have also had mine for 4 years and its held up very well, I haven't lost any diamonds or anything, so I think its a pretty good value. Good luck, I think its really pretty!

After the video, I just cannot get this ring out of my mind. Simply stunning. SO unique, so different. I think you are going to start a trend here on PS.

OMG.....what a magnificent ring !

I absolutely love the idea of an AVC in rose gold. It's unique and a lovely complement to the pastels of the diamond.I hope you don't change a thing about this beautiful ring.

My sister lives a mile from GOG, and now I'm inspired to pay her a visit. ;))
I just have to see those AVCs and AVRs in person.

I was trying to hold out and not comment until after you had received the ring, but since more photos and video have been posted I've decided to go ahead. Initially, like you I wasn't crazy about the proportions either, but we've all seen this happen on PS before. Dreamer is right, it's a good lesson that we should withhold judgement until we have seen more than just a couple of vendor photos. I think the ring looks amazing in the video! Absolutely stunning! And I still think that it will look much more dainty when you see it today. I'm also going to be working with RG in the near future too so your thread has been interesting for me. I can't wait to see photos that you take, and agree with the others that you can NOT wait to give this to her!! My blood pressure goes up thinking about this beauty sitting in a drawer for two months! COngratulations and I think that you will adore it when it arrives today, can;t wait to hear your thoughts!

apologies if this is incoherent and typo riddled....typing with a broken finger! ;(

Perhaps I am one of the few much fussier PSer but I see little difference between the new pictures and the original picture. Yes, the background and everything is flashier (that's what glamour shots are for after all), but the proportions remain the same. The diamond halo is bigger in relation to the center diamond, compared to the inspiration picture. Then again, I think most people do not pick up on such details.

Really, Dude - a Christmas proposal is so cliche! A Halloween proposal... now that would stand out! :wink2:

Haha, no kidding! I, too, saw the video on Facebook and knew IMMEDIATELY that it was your ring and went "Holy CRAP it's just lovely, nothing to worry about there!" I can think of tons of cute ways to propose on Halloween. Dress up as a groom... tell her you got her a Halloween 'treat'... tell her "I don't want to SCARE you, but..." and then whip out the ring box... my favorite: sneak up on her, yell 'BOO!' and then drop down on one knee.

I think the lighting or camera placement in the original picture darkened the melee and made the contrast between center stone and setting more pronounced than it appears in the video and the second set of pics. I would think the melee will perform better/be brighter under most lighting conditions and not look like the original pic, and so the setting will blend better with the center stone. Hope it looks beautiful when the OP gets to see it IRL!

I think the ring is beautiful but to me, it still doesn't match the inspiration ring. If you're ok with that, great! I definitely would wait until you see it in person before you decide. But if you still don't love it, I would start looking for a new setting. You don't want to look at that ring on her hand for the rest of your life and wish you would have picked something different. But hopefully you will love it in person and you won't have to worry about that =)

I also think many here aren't being fair to you in saying that if she loves it, why should you worry about it. To me, if you are the one spending $12K on a ring and it is supposed to represent your commitment to each other, you should love it too and I can understand why you were freaking out. If my husband didn't like how my ring turned out, I know I would want to find something that we both loved (but luckily we have similar taste!).

Be sure to post pics once you get it!!

I think the video displays the beauty and sparkle of the stones - the ring looks a little dull in the pics, diamonds are difficult to photograph - the diamonds look much more "alive" in the video. I think it's a gorgeous ring and I hope you end up loving it!

what a stunning ring!!! :appl:

I'm back from GOG and as it turns out, those new photos & video didn't really tell the proper story...

...Because it's actually nicer in real life! It's awesome. I think I actually like it better than the inspiration rings. I'm not sure what the original issue was in the first set of pics - I actually don't think it was the diamond:halo ratio after all- I think it was just how much the metal stood out vs the diamond. In any lighting I've thrown at it, I can't recreate that effect from the first set of pictures. That's a good thing!

I have something specifically planned and it's less than 2 months... I'll post pics, don't worry ;)

Good! I'm glad that you like it. It does look like a $12K ring and you did a great job picking it out. I'm glad that you can put all the stress behind you and get on with planning the proposal!

All's good then! :appl: I was concerned that it was the diamond / halo ratio that bugged you.

Glad to hear it. It really is a beautiful ring!

Congrats! I'm a big fan of GOG, too! :) Can't wait to see the pics!

YAY!!! Oh, I'm SO glad!!
I, too, learned that photos often can accentuate the bad and minimize the good. Diamonds are like a living thing, the way they sparkle and move, and without that the look of the jewelry is completely different and flat!

And it's funny about "inspiration" rings... I believe (more often then not) they are used for inspiration, to get us moving in a certain direction. But not necessarily to be copied perfectly. I like that you took the "inspiration" and then made it your own.

I cannot WAIT to see the photos of the ring on her hand!
Any chance you will take a few "preview" pictures for us just to tide us over?? :appl:

Awesome update!!! I'm glad you love it - all that worry for nothing!

Well no, not nothing - the next time someone comes on here worrying about what the pics show we have the perfect thread to link ::)

I am with Chrono but what I think doesn't matter. I am very happy that you love it now.

Well of course it is the same ring! And the things you point out, Chrono, remain true. But in my opinion the video shows the ring as a piece in motion and it looks much nicer that way than in those first static shots. And the gallery is lovely. For the price, I think it is a really pretty mount. ETA: And of course, most people are not as detail oriented (read: OCD) as many of us :)) Thankfully so, for them.

I have been lurking on your thread and initially I agreed with you. The new pictures have totally changed my mind and I love  the ring! It is stunning and your future Fiancee is sure to fall head over heels for that beautiful sparkly!! Have fun proposing and come back with the story and pics!

Oh My GOD, brought me out of Hiding !!!!!!

That is the most scrumptious ring I have seen in forever,
and if your woman doesn't go BONKERS over it,
then you can propose to me me MEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it's really your ring ( and I think it is ... )
then I REALLY hope Jonathan isn't disappointed with what you have written....
It's clear how delighted HE is with how it turned out with the Rose Gold,
and HE SEES A LOT !!!!
the video really
highlights the beauty of that diamond,
the high crown on the profile
just STEALS MY HEART !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you are going to love it, and it is going to make your fiancee-to-be
SO HAPPY !!!!!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PROPOSE FOR HALLOWEEN !!!
how fun to find a beautiful ring hiding inside a Jack-O-Lantern !!!!! :appl:

I'm so glad you love the ring! I had a feeling you would after seeing it in person - pics just don't capture the sparkle of diamonds very well - I think she's going to be thrilled!
