Hi!
I understand this may be the wrong forum to post this in, so apologies in advance..
but I am hoping to get some opinions and advice on my ring feeling loose suddenly!

The weather/temperature has dropped and since it got cooler my ring is now swiveling all over and feels really loose like it could easily pop off. I got it in the summer and it felt snug but now its started feeling loose and I wander if cold weather is why? (Size 5.5 yellow gold 18k with 2.10carat oval)

I don't know if I should get it re-sized because it might be too tight next summer but if I don't im afraid it may fall off or get damaged.. any solutions or advice you can offer? Are there any alternative options?
I don't get the wedding band til July 2018.

Much appreciated. Thanks!

most people have fingers that swell some in the summer and then get smaller in winter. Perhaps you can have some sizing cushions added and that may help.

Typical issue for most of us. Some people get sizing balls or bridges installed inside the ring. Wearing another ring helps slightly with spinning and prevents ER from falling off. Perhaps you can wear a non-wedding looking band ring until you get the permanent version next year.

Definitely don't resize because that is something that we all deal with and you don't want to be resizing your rings twice a year!

The cheapest solution is to use ring noodles or snuggies until you get your wedding band. I prefer the kind that is clear flexible plastic because it won't scratch your ring. They are sold on Amazon.

I think this happens to everyone. I didn't realise how much variation there is in my finger size until I got my rings.
Ideal would be to have the ring a size that is looseish in winter but still stay on if you wring/shake your hand, then it will not be too tight in summer

As a jeweler, I can tell you that summer and winter are not the only things that cause fluctuations. Gaining weight during pregnancy, gaining or losing weight for any reason, swimming in salt water is a huge cause of ring loss as the salt water desiccates the fingers, making them shrink big time and bye bye!

Diamond Seeker has offered excellent advice and Baby Monster also mentions a great solution for many. I have used sizing bars in some of my rings for years. They work well for me.

Do be careful though and take your ring off if it gets too loose rather than risk losing it.

Since your ring is snug in the summer, I would avoid any permanent/semipermanent solution such as resizing or adding sizing bars or sizing beads. However, products such as those offered by Ring-Guard.com should be exactly what you need. We've had good success with the Ring Noodle and EZsizer products.

I just stack some very narrow bands next to my ring. I have a bunch of silver ones that are the full size below my "summer size" that I keep on hand. I have one in my coin purse, one in the car, several at home...DH even has taken to carrying one in his wallet for me. I've accumulated quite a fet. You can't really see them next to the shank and it keeps my ring snug. If you put one on either side of an ering, they won't read as a wedding band IMHO.

I make my own, but I modeled mine after these which I found to be a good fit for my ring.

Although, this would be my preferred solution. Stack them to the sky! :lol-2::lol-2:

Yes just buy another band to wear with your set in the winter.

One idea my daughter saw.. not sure about this.. is to put a strip of hot glue on the inside bottom and let it dry and harden, obviously.

I tried this, the glue came off when I put the ring on.

I have this issue too, a lot of people do, and I use a ring noodle.

For all of us beings jewelry enthusiasts in surprised so many people are suggesting just to put plastic on it lol. More bands works just as well and it's more bling haha

DS, do you wear ring noodles a lot? Does water and soap from washing hands get trapped there and then irritate the skin?

thank you all so much for the recommendations! :) I am glad I didn't rush to have it sized. I will be ordering a ring noodle and maybe look for a thin unnoticeable band as well.

FWIW, my wife has sensitive skin, and the ring noodle she wears every day doesn't bother her.

My rings are looser in the winter, but not to the point I need to use a ring noodle. I just like the idea of them since they do not in any way scratch or alter the ring.

Her ring may fit much better when she adds the wedding band next July. Only after that would I consider adding sizing beads.
