Thank you again girls. I shall know more immediate news re the baby in a week or two.

Regarding the jewels *heheheh* I already own the 1.36, which makes everything so much more fun, decision wise! :)

Will update next week!

Oh, Lara, then you need to start the ring thread all over! You didn't tell us all the info at the outset!

Lara,

I hope everything will be ok with the baby. I will pray for her and for you and DH too.

Re: RHR 'family ring': 1.36 centre for three stone, or 2c so

Lara, I am wishing the very best for you. I had a coworker who went through some similar, serious worry during her most recent pregnancy (regarding water on the brain and perhaps other brain developmental issues). Amazingly, her little boy shifted course and all irregularities cleared up on their own. He is 2 now, and there is no sign he is anything less than perfect. I hope, hope, hope that the same occurs for you.

I'm so sorry about your baby. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers! I hope things turn out ok.

Re: RHR 'family ring': 1.36 centre for three stone, or 2c so

Omg just wrote a huge post and the stupid iPad swallowed it!!

Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts and words girls. I really appreciate it, PS has been an absolute boon and distraction over this past fortnight.

Sitting up in bed resting after my test yesterday. Went to the specialist with hubby in tow, the testing procedure involves first another ultrasound and then a placental biopsy. there is a a risk of miscarriage associated with the biopsy, so I was pretty apprehensive. In fact I was thinking we should wait a few more weeks, until the risk of miscarriage is lower.

The doctor could see I was about to get off the table and she said, "I didn't want to tell you this until after the procedure, as I didn't want to upset you, but I can see from this new scan that there are signs of brain changes associated with problems."

I thought my six foot husband was about to collapse . He is totally devastated. It is not an inherited condition generally, just a lottery.

The test results are yet to come back, but the expected outcome is Patau syndrome. Unfortunately 80 per cent of Patau babies will miscarry late, those that are born alive have a life expectancy of two days. Really, I am telling you all this to help raise awareness, it s similar to Downs n that it is a chromosomal duplication problem, but of a different chromosome. There are only three different types of chromosomal duplication problems which can lead to live births, the other chromosome duplications usually result in early miscarriage. Patau is one that can lead to live birth, it is the most lethal, then there is Edwards (another chromosome, also a bad prognosis) and of course Downs.

Anyway, who wants to talk diamonds after all that? I was very happy to spend the morning before the test talking diamonds and ended up going with the 2.02c. I'll have it set as a low set sol, perhaps with little inset diamonds on the shoulders. I did consider a three stone a la.5/2/.5 - have seen some stunning examples eg Rosetta and others - but tbh although i absolutely adored them on PS not my personal style at this time.

also felt that with the astronomical markup as carat size increases, I should reach for the size and could more easily attain smaller sizes down the track, if i wanted to go down three stone track in years to come. hmm.

Although at 8.18mm, not an overly spready diamond. But of course, beautiful. 56.9 per cent table, 61.1 per cent depth. gIA ex/ex/ex, strong blue. F/ SI2 and perfectly eye clean.

Thank you sweet ladies for being a 'virtual listening ear' at this time!! W

Lara... I don't know what to say, but just wanted to tell you my heart is breaking for you and your little one. I hope this is all wrong and that is not going to be the case and the tests are all going to be perfect. I can hope, right? Oh my ... {{{{HUGS}}}} I hope the Perth GTG PSers just surround you with love and warmth when you meet.

Take care of you and your brood... and your 6' DH who is probably trying to be super strong thru all of this, for you. :halo:

Re: RHR 'family ring': 1.36 centre for three stone, or 2c so

Oh no Lara... I am so so so sorry. I also hope the test was just a fluke. Sometimes it happens. My friend's baby tested positive for downs but he is a healthy 3 year old boy now with no downs. I will pray for you and your family. This is something that I cannot even begin to comprehend... The emotions you must be going through. We are all here for you on PS.

Re: RHR 'family ring': 1.36 centre for three stone, or 2c so

Oh Lara. Words can't express how sad I am for you and your beautiful family, I just hope hope against hope that somewhere along the line the tests are just wrong. I can't imagine how you're feeling. Good on you for treating yourself to the 2 carater, it'll be amazing on your teeny fingers!

Thinking of you all, please keep us posted if you can.

Much love xxxxxxxxxx

Re: RHR 'family ring': 1.36 centre for three stone, or 2c so

Hi, Lara - I was lurking on the thread because I wanted to see where you were before I chimed in. You have nothing but my deepest sympathy. I know from personal experience that PS can be a real rock in a hard situation, in the best possible way, and I hope you can get the support you need from us. I - along with all of these lovely ladies - will be here for you, inasmuch as there's anything that can be done to help. You're one of the loveliest people on PS, always with a kind word or an incisive observation, and it's the least we all can do in return.

Re: RHR 'family ring': 1.36 centre for three stone, or 2c so

Lara, I'm so very sorry for you, your family, and your little baby. :blackeye:
Maybe you can get your new 2ct set with some pink or blue stones somewhere to honour your youngest who faces such monumental challenges at such an incredibly tender age.
Please know that you are in my thoughts, and you can lean on us PSers any time you need. You are a brave mama. Make sure you take any offers of help from friends and family at this time, and talk to a qualified therapist if you feel like you are in too deep. There is no shame in taking help, and the hospital social worker can help set you and your family up with a lot of wonderful resources.
My heart goes out to you, one mum to another. HUGS!
