Whether or not the rose cuts are dirty or need to be cleaned or the enclosed backing/foil is compromised, is hard to tell from these photos.
Much is also dependent on if this is a true antique or a repro. And what the asking price is.
Whether or not this ring suits your desire in wanting a garnet - really depends on what you want to see/own in a garnet?
Don’t wish to comment on the seller claiming it’s a rhodolite. If I wanted the ring for what it actually really is, and at the price it’s at -
In this case the vendor choosing to call it the incorrect variety of garnet for some reason wouldn’t bother me.
