Resetting Lightbox Stones: Making 1-ct stones into a 4 stone ring

I'm considering buying 2 sets of 2ctw Lightbox round earrings and resetting them into a 4-stone half eternity band.

Can you guys talk me into or out of this? It's hard to find photos of similarly sized rings, so if you have one, I'd love to see.

This will be for a RHR.

Wow. I can’t wait to see that on your finger. It will be 6.4mm in width. What’s your ring size?

What’s your ring size? It will be HUGE. I’d love to follow along.

Have you thought about doing 0.5ct stones and making a five stone (two pairs of 1ctw earrings and a 0.5ct pendant) or a half/three quarters eternity with three or four pairs of earrings?

Here are some links to four stone rings of similar size:

The original inspiration came from this ring. I love the size on the finger in the images. The seller says they are 5mm stones, but either the model has really small hands or the stones are bigger than 5mm, don’t you think?

My ring size is 6. I bought a CZ eternity in a 5mm size, and was disappointed that it looked much smaller than the images in the original listing I fell in love with.

Do you think 1 ct each stones will achieve the look in the first picture or will be too big? I want this to be a super sparkly everyday ring, it’s a self gift for a promotion at work :)

I imagine the 1ct stones will look like your inspiration picture. I just personally can’t get enough eternity bands so I always favor that look. To each her own; your ring will be spectacular and I hope you’ll take us along on the ride! Congrats on the promotion!

I’d make sure to get a mock-up (3D printed?) before committing, but as long as it’s comfortable I bet it will look fantastic.

Here’s another idea: making this ring with 2 1ct Lightbox stones. What do you think? 3C879BF6-EA1F-4644-81E7-21605F07BBB6.jpeg 6CC433CB-6D9E-4789-9D66-A17DF9538B43.jpeg

A friend advised me this style ring isn’t suitable for daily wear since it tends to get caught on things.

I’m really torn. Maybe the 1 ct each will be too flashy. Alternatively, I could do one of Ouros’ eternity bands. Less exciting (because they’re smaller) but maybe more wearable? I’m in my late 20s, I have a great paying job but don’t want people to assume I’m so blinged out it’s all costume jewelry.

would you prefer a smaller eternity band or a bigger half eternity band? Why?

What about a graduated 5 stone band? It could still be blingy but less so than 4 1ct diamonds.

Honestly, I love the 4 1ct ring. So gorgeous. That’s what stood out to me the most out of all of the other things you’ve considered. Ofc you have to see what works for you, but I’d be putting my money squarely in the blingy half eternity! Though to be fair I’m very go big or go home as a person.

To me personally it would just be too big of a look. You mentioned not wanting it to look like costume jewelry and honestly that's what I would assume for a young person with stones that size. That's judgey of course and everyone may not assume the same.

I have a 5 stone with 20 point stones and even that has a nice presence. 40 pointers would be killer!

Thanks all! I bought the 2 sets of earrings, now just need to find a jeweler (hopefully in NYC) to set it! Will send photos of the finished project in mid-Jan :)

Do you have pictures of the earrings? Would love to see the consistency of the specs! Now you have me thinking about doing something similar!

Sorry it took me so long to do this! I’m no GIA gemologist but I think they’re very well matched. I’m going to work with my jeweler to pick the 4 best matched stones and then keep the other two as earrings.
