I am all over the place. I thought I would never halo a princess..but I gave it a lot of thought....I emailed David to get his thoughts on haloing the studs to make them a little bigger. I already have halo mrb drops..I thought this would be a different change from anything I have..and I love his melee...

I'd go for a colored stone. You can do a EC, another princess, a squarish cushion or an asscher. You can get away with different shapes with a colored stone more than a diamond.

Gorgeous! I also wonder what a halo would look like that was a tad rounded.... just to soften those edges a bit. ?
I wouldn’t want them to be round..I think it could wind up looking like a cushion rounding over the points. I think the inspiration photo has larger princess diamonds.

I’ve been looking at squarish cushions too.. I agree a colored stone would look the best. I’m trying to think through if I would wear a colored stone as much as earrings.

This is what I did with my princess cut studs - very close to yours in size (1.05ctw I think?)

They were very substantial on the ear and looked very 'Chanel' to me. I used to wear them with a Chanel jacket I owned and the combo was felicitous.

This was a much more obvious look than just plain diamonds - I really liked it and it was a bit more age appropriate - in that it was more substantial and not as delicate. I loved this look and it suited me. I think I was in my late 40's (10 years ago) when I was wearing these.

ETA The docked corners were much more forgiving than plain squares in keeping the earrings looking like they were properly 'lined up'.

Gorgeous @mrs_b! I did look at some online that had the docked corners. I like them too. I have a pair of very expensive earring jackets I bought that I never wear. I also thought of having princess shaped jackets made for them..but decided against that because I don’t wear the ones for my MRB studs. I think having the halo permanently attached would be better. I’m even thinking of having a simple drop..no halo..squared..not kite dangled..They would be delicate and sweet. I’m just open to everything at this point.

Do you wear 'delicate and sweet'? I don't, so this wouldn't work for me, but if it's your look, then go for it!

As for a small 3-stone ring, I just don't think you'd reach for it, y'know? On the other hand, I'd definitely wear a ring with 3 x 1/2ct princess cuts channel set! That would be awesome.

@mrs-b I usually wear my 3.04 MRB studs daily. I do change off and wear other earrings...usually small studs or dangles..not small and not big..Like you feel about under 1 carat diamonds..I love the IDEA of sweet and delicate on the ear. My earlobes are not delicate and sweet..but not jumbo either. I’m thinking they would be nice to wear when I want to wear understated jewelry.
Here’s a pic of my 1.51 or 1.53 on my ear. They don’t look the size because of my earlobes having more real estate. If my daughter-in-law put them on they would be past her lobe..Here’s another with the princess .50 on my lobe. In the photos they don’t even look that different in size!

Okay...I need opinions. David sent me two cads...one with smaller and larger melee. Which ones do you like better? The smaller ones are 1mm melee...I don’t know the size of the other ones...The inspiration photo included!

I like the smaller melee :)
I’m leaning that way too. The inspiration photo has a larger central diamond...Mine are much smaller so think the smaller melees will be more proportional.

I agree, the smaller melee CAD looks more like the inspiration earrings. I bet these will be very versatile, looking equally great dressed up or down!

Thank you @BMI I told David I’m pretty sure I want the smaller melee but I asked for a plastic model to be sure. I don’t want them to be so small I don’t see it. He has done quite a bit for me and didn’t need a plastic model except for my avatar ring. This has me a little uncertain.

They’ll be amazing and you’ll get a lot of wear out of them!

Thanks @PreRaphaelite! I have jackets I don’t wear for my smaller round studs because they don’t fit inside the jackets. David is also going to reset them with a thin bezel...I hope they’ll fit better then without the prongs. That’s why I didn’t do jackets for the princess diamonds. They never seem to seat right.

I just got an email from David that my princess cut Costco earrings are finished! I should get them next week! These are the pics he sent me last night..I wanted them to still look like princess earrings but the edges of the halo a little rounded so not a point....but not too much of a cushion shape. I love them!
