Would most retail stores or maybe even PS vendors be willing to work with resetting a stone from one setting to another if the ring wasn''t originally purchased through them?

All the local jewelers where I live will do it for a fee, but unfortunately, they''re all terrible and set stones way too high or crooked, so you have to be careful. I''ve never gone to a chain store and asked though.

Sure, most jewelers sell settings in their stores and will reset a stone. The important thing is, do you have the ring insured or will the jeweler cover your stone for damage or loss while in their possession?

I wouldn''t send a stone off to a PS vendor to be set unless it was maybe Pearlman''s since they sort of specialize in settings. The diamond vendors mainly have settings in order to set the stones they sell. It''s just easier to reset locally, in my opinion.

Most local and online vendors should be able to reset your diamond for you. However, most of them will not assume responsibility if something happens to the stone during the setting process. So it is at the costumer''s risk.

If you are interested in online vendor: Whiteflash, Wink Jones and Good Old Gold are very reliable.

I''m sorry. I was thinking that you meant you didn''t buy the setting from them either, as I had purchased a stone and setting serperately but both online and had a terrible time getting it set right.
