Repair ring or get new setting?

Hi Everyone!

I have a ring that has been giving me some problems - the pave keeps popping out. I''ve lost three stones so far.

I have taken it to a one jeweller the first two times they have fallen out. The jeweller assured me he tightened the prongs sufficiently, but after the third time, I would rather not go back.

I can''t take the ring to the store where it was purchased as it was overseas.

I''m starting to wonder if something is wrong with the setting.

Would you try another repair shop or get a new setting?

If you choose repair shop, can you recommend a reputable jewellery repair shop in NYC (preferably Midtown)?

If you choose a new setting for the centre stone, what would you do with the pave in the old setting, if anything?

Wow, that is a gorgeous ring!!! I would certainly try to have that setting repaired as it likely would cost a few thousand dollars to have it remade. Hopefully one of the New Yorkers can advise you where to take it.

It may be made so that there is just not enough metal thickness and strength to hold the diamonds successfully. Repairs often further anneal, soften, the metal with the heating that is involved, too. You ought to have someone examine it who knows how to properly construct a ring and let them provide some advice to you.

Hi - I had a problem with my ering (a little different from you, it was invisible set). After attempting repairs several times, I caved and had it remade with channel set diamond... BEST decision I ever made! I would say get referrals for several certified jewelers and then get some quotes. BEAUTIFUL ring!
PS: Sorry I don''t know any NY jewelers but mine here in IL is fabulous!
