Remove copper carbonate from Pearls

Does anyone know how I can remove copper carbonate from cultured pearls without damaging the pearls?

The pearls have been stained by copper based gimp at the ends of strands. The pearls are on a pair of very nice quality earrings so I really don't want to damaged them.

What have you tried so far? What kind of pearls are they? I'd try a gentle soap or pearl safe jewelry cleaner with a microfiber cloth or q-tip.

Are you referring to deposits from base metal findings?
