So I’m going to get my blue band remade!

It’s too prongy and I don’t love it and don’t want it to eat my new solitaire! The new band will be made to fit with the solitaire in terms of height off finger!

Here are a couple of options! I like the single prong with it but I’m concerned because I generally haven’t liked single prong rings before but I do like it with my ring! Will the prongs stand out more against blue than it does white? The stones on this are 4 pointers and mine are 3 pointers so will look slightly smaller.

Then there’s the pave band which seems a bit plain!

Let me know your thoughts!

I was also considering if I should alternate blue/white/blue/white or just leave it as an all blue band as it currently is.

Really would love opinions, give me other setting ideas if you feel something else would look better!

Thanks!

I much prefer the first band. Very beautiful

Might help if you provide a picture of your "blue" band.

Is the same shop going to be re-making the band?
I remember your first very distinctly because the setting just swallowed the stones- I'm not sure if they have the skill to make the setting that you're envisioning.

@tyty333 here is the current band

No @molecule they’ve had their chance, I won’t be going back there again!

I do like the single prong ring pictured above but are you sure the girdles of those stones won't still eat into the engagement ring setting?

I’ve had a good look @MissGotRocks and I think it’ll be safer!

It sits lower so the metal basket hits the donut but the girdles and top of prongs clear everything else.

I’m open to suggestions though as these are just 2 examples I tried yesterday.

I think that first ring will still eat away at your solitaire, those designs are best left to stand alone. I would keep an eternity as stand alone and wear your solitaire with a matching plain band, then you could stack the eternity with that if you wanted without any fear of damage.

It's like that when you're not moving but it will rub throughout your daily activities.

I don’t know if you like the look, but I think your blue diamonds would look great in a bezel setting. Then you don’t have to worry about prongs eating into your setting. Here’s the band I wear most often with my solitaire.2D737660-4EB6-4162-9FF4-86CC0C983C7E.jpeg

Thanks @Asscherhalo_lover I see your point!

@coda72 I love yours but not sure how I feel about it for mine! Will keep it in mind! Thanks for showing yours, it’s gorgeous!

So would the pave type band be safe? The second option in my first post?

My ER is "brightcut" pave, that would be safe since it basically has a "channel" on each side. No exposed girdles. My ring has been worn for over 11 years with no issues.

@KirstLWA if you did go for a shared single prong (which looks great with your new solitaire!) you could wear a thin knife edge band between the blue band girdles and your solitaire to be your sacrificial metal?

I was just looking at the knife edge 2mm tiffany wedding band @foxinsox I wonder if that will work between my solitaire and my current band. Would be cheaper to just buy the knife edge wb for a spacer.

This option would mean that everything is close to 2mm wide and once I get the eternity resized, they would all be the same height off the finger I hope.

@Miki Moto do you ever wear your solitaire and plain wb with a diamond eternity? If so, I would love to see it. Also, do you know the depth or height off the finger of your wedding band? Thanks for any help you can give.

I would say bead set or brightcut would be safer. With daily wear, the single prong band will rotate and wear at your solitaire.

Oh and I love the idea of the knife edge band in between as a spacer.

Interesting update to share.

I had my band looked at today and was told that the platinum couldn't be reused because some of the prongs have been lasered on, hence the platinum is contaminated.

Is it normal practice, for a brand new, supposedly 100% hand forged (not cad and cast) ring to have prongs lasered on? I would have thought not but maybe I am wrong.

Understand older pieces with wear and tear may need to be repaired in this manner but a brand new ring straight out of the workshop????

Would love some feedback, especially from any of the tradespeople on here as to whether this is normal practice for a brand new piece. @Texas Leaguer @Wink - would you be interested in weighing in on this?

Thanks!
