I run into this with BN websites! If you look on the GIA grading report on your link on the left hand side the GIA report number is written vertically, if you check the number we can tell if it is the same diamond - the number for my link is;

GIA Report 2115174526

Ahh I see my Report says 2105772275 so different but great find..
Ok, not the same one!

You will have to factor in the import tax for this.

I will be in the states soon what if I pick it up and call it a gift.. or you talking local sales taxes ?

There is no import duty on loose diamonds in Australia. If the diamond is set into a ring in the USA, you should be able to get your courier to apply for duty-free under the USA-Australia free trade agreement when it''s being shipped in. Basically, you should only have to worry about the 10% GST and a few other minor customs charges.

Ditto - aguyinlove, Lestat and ArjunaJane did a lot of investigation concerning this recently so you should be ok.

Hi All,

sorry I have been traveling and not had internet... Do you think it''s ok to buy a diamond based on specs ? the one I posted before

http://www.whiteflash.com/round/Round-cut-diamond-2219812.htm#

Or do I need to visit it first ?

many thanks
I don''t think YOU need to visit it, but WF needs to visit it

. What you need to do is call WF and tell them you are interested in that diamond. They will call it in (it is not in house, it is a virtual diamond) and then they will perform all their tests on it. Then they will tell you if it passes muster to be one of their diamonds. If so, then you can decide whether to buy it. I would take their assessment as valid combined with the IS image they will give you. Then you can buy it without personally seeing it if you want to.

This whole thing will take a little while though, not before the holidays for sure. Call them!

I all wf got the diamond in and here are the results.

I would welcome your feedback on the diamond.

Thanks again you have been a great help

Sorry to threadbutt - but i''m also in the process of finding a diamond and though that the advice on the very specific parameters to look for were really helpful. One thing i didnt see is what the ideal "depth" should be, the symmetry and the cutlet?

Sorry the photos did not attach ! Now I found a computer I post them right..

Hope to hear some thought soon !

thanks again !

Wow, that''s a beautiful stone!!

So you think it''s a winner

Yes, absolutely. The arrows are so crisp and the magnified image is gorgeous.

It is lovely!

Is this the F VS2? The inclusion under the table is probably not visible if it is a VS2 but best to ask.

That stone is beautiful!!

Thank you so much yep it is a VS2 I was concerned you might be able to see it. I was ask them again.

I hope this will shine we are setting this in a classic ring with 4 claws.

We are going to use wf to do this. Has anyone had. Ring made from them in plat ? What was it like.

Thank you so much.

If you do a search, you''ll see a lot of WF designs, they have a really good rep here, I''m currently talking to them about possibly creating a custom ring too!

P.s. you''re so sweet! I wish my guy would do some research and go to so much effort to look for the perfect diamond!

Good luck!

Yes, Looks like a winner.
Very nice diamond (nice choice)

I have an F VS2 1.4 and it's beautiful.

That 1.6 should get tons of complements

Might I suggest
A 6 prong setting rather than a 4 prong to hold the diamond better.

Thanks for the replies, I''m moving forward with buying this from WF.. I have recieved excellent service so far and have very special needs which seem to be meet.

I have confirmed you can not see the inclusion in the diamond from the naked eye...

Thanks for the thoughts on the 6 prong setting rather than a 4 prong to hold the diamond better, but I know she is in love with the classie 4 prong and would like to keep to this style..

I hope the 4 prong will be designed in such a way the diamond will stand out and stay in tack.. we are getting plat so this might help as well..

This has taken me a long time but I believe that I have made the right choice.. I''m now looking forward to the Custom ring and seeing it in real life... I hope that it is jaw dropping and I will be happy enough to give it to my other half to wear for the rest of our lives...

will keep you posted...

Thank so much I sure will hope to have it in the next couple of days. Just a question I notice there are people looking at diamonds around the 1 to 1.3 range in the holloway cut rang mine is a 1.7 do you think this will effect the viewing of the diamond to much??

Thank you for all your time and help I know my other half will be happy

Absolutely not, you have a superbly cut diamond there! The HCA is used for rejection not selection, as long as a diamond scores below 2 and preferably between 1 and 2 for a ring stone you are fine. Also you have images which trump the HCA score in any case.

Congratulations, you did great and your intended is going to be delighted with your choice

congrats aguy!! that really looks like a fantastic stone. i just got my ring in from WF, and it''s a four prong platinum ring... i don''t see that diamond going anywhere. you can check out pics in the thread in my signature. i agree, their customer service is top-notch... they blew past any of my wildest expectations every single time i talked to them. there''s no way you & your intended will be disappointed!!

also, the HCA is simply a first-round, weed-out tool ... it''s designed to help you search through thousands of diamonds to come up with only the ones that are good. from there, once you get images, the score is irrelevant.

best of luck with the proposal! come back with stories and pics... we can''t wait!
