After months of researching and searching, I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a 1.36 carat VVS2 XXX G color stone. However after putting its dimensions in HCA, it returns a score of 2.4. I asked the vendor (BrilliantlyEngaged) for Idealscope and ASET images but they are not available. I know a lot of people look for HCA score of 2 or lower. Is this going to be an issue?

Here's the GIA report:

Thank you!

I think stones that score a HCA of 2.2 or 2.4 are still worth looking at. But the fact that Idealscope and ASET images are not available is somewhat concerning.

I think it could be a really nice stone. I'm thinking it's getting dinged on the HCA because it's heading towards being steep. It's borderline, so it could be really beautiful.

Really, you won't know until you see it. But if there a solid return policy and the price is right I think it's worth a shot!

Thank you everyone! Are IS/ASET images typically available? Is that something I can press for even after they said it's not available? It's a stone that's coming from India so if I'd need to buy it in order to see it. Brilliantlyengaged's return policy isn't the greatest ... $250 fee on returns.

Hm, $250 is pretty steep just to inspect the diamond.

No I don't believe the IS or ASET would be available, unless BE can take images for you. But it may be that the stone is going directly to you from India. You can ask them if they will get the diamond first and if they have the ability to do the IS and or ASET.

Why don't you have Brilliantly Engaged find a stone for you within your specs that they CAN provide images on. They have access to a ton of diamonds that are in NY. I am guessing you found this diamond through their search engine?

Another thing I noticed is that the GIA report is from April 2014. Is that of any concern? Most reports that I've looked at from within the last few months.

That's right ... I found it through their search engine.

I wouldn't worry about the date of the report.
