Hi! I'm looking into getting this ring re-set. It was my grandmother's ring. I Want to stick with a simple prong setting and maintain the integrity of the original ring as much as I can since it is a family piece. I just want to bring the diamond down since it is set so high. I don't know very much about diamonds and rings and prices or anything like that. I was wondering if anyone has an idea about how much this would cost? Thanks in advance!!C4DFD4EF-7658-4781-A373-2B00A65A27F9.jpegFD197B5E-0561-4406-A0DF-309FB58A16E6.jpegCCDC5528-8590-4903-9AE2-E3807023DC3A.jpeg44CA17AD-BC1D-47D9-9E76-298057126FD2.jpeg

It looks like the head was soldered onto an existing band. If so, that may let you use the existing band with a new head attached. That would save you a chunk if it's possible.

I wouldn't begin to quote someone else's prices and it ranges from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollars depending on what you want. The bright side is that estimates are generally cheerful, free, and fast. Pick a jeweler you like and ask 'em. You can definitely do a design that will bring that diamond closer to the finger.

Not to sound self-serving but you might want to get that appraised first in order to know of pre-existing damage before you get deep into the project. It protects both you and the jeweler.

I was looking at a simple 14K solitaire setting about a year ago, at that time I couldn't touch one for under $350 not including setting fee's I am in the US in the midwest...that was way more than I wanted to spend at that time...one day I will reset the stone...good luck
