I know you have to see a Radiant before buying. I have seen many at this point, this one is very nice, but wanted your guys feedback on the numbers, cuz i am paying a lot. The depth and table percentages are close, and people seem to think table should be a few % less than depth, but are these numbers good?

GIA
7.55x7.53x4.96
Carat: 2.30
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: VG
Florescence: None

Depth: 65.7%
Table: 66%
Girdle: slightly thick to thick

They few inclusions visible under magnification appear to be right on top of the stone, in the middle of the table. Is that OK?

Hi Dave,

You cannot judge a radiant by the numbers as you know, seeing is the best way to judge beauty. What I would do as you have seen the diamond, is to get an independant appraiser to check out this diamond before the sale is final. This will give you an expert second opinion which might be an excellent move, here is a tool so you can find one in your area. Also I am sure VS2 inclusions only seen under magnification under the table are fine, if the stone is eyeclean with the naked eye.

Could be a nice one or maybe not. Any picture of the stone? Any idealscope and crown height information. You''ve said it yourself that radiants cannot be judged by numbers alone, so what do you think of this one?

If the inclusion(s) isn''t noticeable to you using just your eyes (no magnification), then it''s fine.

DD- there are no red flags in those #''s, but as you already know, #''s do not always tell the whole story. You''ll have to let your eyes be the judge. Radiants should have even life throughout the diamond without any concentrations of black. The biggest risk with a square radiant is a large dead spot around the culet in the form of a strong black circle. This occurs as a result of poor proportioning in the diamonds pavilion, and is actually even more obvious after the diamond is mounted.

One trick to see if the diamond has this problem is to place it face up in the crease of a folded up white card and look at it under a fluorescent desk lamp . If the dead spot is there it will become readily apparent.
