Hi all,

I’m new to the forum and was hoping for some educated opinions.

I’m newly married and after prioritizing our custom home, I am designing my engagement ring :mrgreen2:

I’m looking at several stones but really love the size and price of this radiant cut. My only concern is that there’s a noticeable bow tie. It doesn’t seem to have any dark spots in the bow, but I’m not sure if it’s a flaw or not. It does sparkle a LOT which I love. What do you guys think? Details below..

Size: 2.21ct
Colour: E
Clarity: VS1
Ratio: 1:5 as it hits 2ct.

Excellent symmetry and excellent depth for the stone which is 65%

(these are detailed from my jeweler as I’m still waiting for the GIA)

Note, it’s a loose stone (obviously) so you might see my skin tone around the edges, it’s not the stone :)

GIA will not tell you if it has a bow tie.
It appears to have a bright center. But you as in YOU need to look at it to see if the centre goes dark.
You are the cause of a bow tie by blocking surrounding lighting (or a camera lens doing the same).

Its crushed ice on the end thirds but the center third has larger virtual facets that don't match the ends and has some issues. Its not a desired look for many and would drive me nutz.

Would an ASET scope help to see things better?? (I’m learning, too)

Yes, this is accurate, the end has the crushed ice look. The bow, however, doesn’t affect the sparkle. I don’t believe there is any darkness nor does it have a black bow effect which I was really concerned about. It’s not unattractive I’m just not sure.
