Hi there,

I was just wondering how important the Polish for a Radiant Cut diamond is. How much of a difference is there between the GIA ratings of Good and Very Good?

Thanks for your help!

No difference in some opinions to the naked untrained eye, good and above looks the same to most it is said.

ETA - the difference in weight with Ex and Gd polish is probably only a point or 2 if that, more of a concern if a cutter is trying to hit a magic weight, say 1ct, but overall even a repolish on a diamond results in minimal loss of weight.

Hi Krangis.

Just in case you haven''t read it, here is the section from the tutorial on POLISH.

Keep in mind to achieve higher polish grades, some of the carat weight will be polished away. Therefore if you have 2 stones of identical carat weight, one with Good Polish and one with Excellent Polish, the EX is going to be more expensive because the Good may be a smaller stone if polished to an EX.

Does that make sense?
