R. Wise book coming-getting the colored stone fever!

I''ve been lurking a bit here and am loving all of your beautiful stones. I confess that I had not paid much attn to them until recently but your excitement is infectious. I just ordered Richard Wise''s book so that I can learn a little. I"m trying not to get totally obsessed yet as I am in the midst of an e-ring upgrade project but I have a couple of others in the back of my mind that involve lots of colored beauties. Just wanted to say thanks for the new love!

Just informed by the publisher that Secrets Of The Gem Trade, The Connoisseur''s Guide To Precious Gemstones will be out of print within 30 days.

Big demand, new printing will not be here for about 3 months. We still have a few and Amazon does as well. We have about 10 hardcovers recently found in the warehouse as well, that''s it!!!!

You really no how to cut corners, they have a back log. Some Amazon sellers are asking $150.00 for USED copies of the hardcover.

That book is great....but now of course I end up spending more on gemstones because I want ones that have the same color as the pictures in the book. Hope new copies come out soon. I want to keep recommending it.

Well, I had ordered it through Amazon just because I was ordering a long list of books and decided to consolidate, but how can I turn down an autographed copy?!!!

I''ve cancelled the Amazon order and just wrote to [email protected] to please have Mr. Wise autograph the book. I can''t wait!!!

Thanks for the kind words. From the response looks like I will have a mild case of writer''s cramp.

Quick story: When the book first came out I did a seminar on Connoisseurship at the AGTA show in Tucson. It was well attended and we sold a number of hardcovers.

One guy came up to me and asked if I would inscribe the book. I said sure what would you like me to say?

He shrugged.

"How about to the guy who taught me everything I know", I asked tongue in cheek.

His eyes lit up: "Would you do that", he asked excitedly.

"No!" I said.

He settled for "best wishes."
