Finally found a memoire dealer and was able to try on all point sizes. It made one thing very clear and that was I preferred the smaller point sizes with my current bands. I think I was in a tiffany cloud when I was there and got confused about what I actually thought looked good on my hand. Bigger for stand alone but smaller for stacking with memories.

So I am choosing between.

Memoire 1 carat full eternity plat with .04s

Or

Memoire .50 half band plat .045s each

I had a bgd half bezel and loved it but the spinning got on my nerves so I sold and intended to buy full. Then fell in love with the shared prong and now not sure if I should do full because I have been told you have to be more careful then bezels. So what do you suggest. I teach fitness everyday!

I have a full and I couldn't be happier. I have two five stone with bigger rocks that I never wear anymore.

I say go full, since you weren't completely happy with the half. :)

I say go half. If you need resizing later you'll need the extra space, plus you have the metal there in the event you need to use your hand.

go full or go home. lol I love my full eternity bands....my half I gave to my 25 year old daughter to wear just wasn't into it any more

Definitely full. Never wear my half b/c I hate seeing the metal. Full all the way. Leave a tiny section of metal so u can size.

I prefer half (well 2/3rds) but I'm an oddball.

Full - with maybe a tiny sizing bar if they can make it barely noticeable. Full in any event.

My hands get bigger and smaller through the day, and I'm sure your hands do too if you teach fitness and get warm and cold throughout the day. I would fiddle with my rings anytime it flipped to the wrong side. Half would drive me nuts.

I would go full for sure. Any metal showing would bother me and take away from my enjoyment of the ring.

Another full vote here! I have both and I really prefer the look and comfort of the full eternity. I guess since you've already mentioned you wanted full if you were buying again, that would be the swaying factor in my mind!

If you were unhappy with half, go for full.

I have a half that I had a couple of extra stones added to so that I was sure all I'd see were diamonds and I'm happy with it.

Spinning rings make me nuts so I say full.

I know it seems so simple but it I a bit complicated for me.

Ame- this is exactly what my dh is saying. He keeps saying don't get anything complicated. I teach yoga and pilates so half the time I'm demonstrating some kind of plank or arm balance and the other half I'm grabbing springs or straps on a reformer. I do use my right hand for the springs though.

But to the majority that answered that is exactly how I feel! Especially the "go big or go home" thanks heididdl lol! I know when that half bezel band would spin it really did bother me. I did sell and and actually ordered a full but bgd messed up the order so I returned it. Now this. Why do I complicate my life this way I do not know. Geesh!

If my dh and good friend didn't say "be practical" I would not have hesitated. So I feel I must way my options with you girls :halo:

*Mostly all of my students and private clients wear their jewels while working out! So if everyone is jumping off the bridge I should too right?

* and why was I okay considering a Tiffany half band? Because it was Tiffany? That's really getting silly!

I just wanted to clarify this statement! *Mostly all of my students and private clients wear their jewels while working out! So if everyone is jumping off the bridge I should too right?

I actually wear my rings and things while teaching. If I didn't, I would barely see them since I teach all the time and throughout the day during the week. But the statement above means that my peeps wear their eternity rings and big rocks while working out. So it must be okay some of the time right? Side note for you yogis out there....I hope this isn't why you don't lengthen your arms in bakasana when I ask!!! Haha

You should not wear a full eternity when grasping things, in my opinion. I would not wear the ring when doing that. I am even careful about carrying bags with handles and that kind of thing. I don't grasp my steering wheel tightly with my left hand. I don't load and unload the dishwasher with rings on. You just have to be conscious all the time or you will damage diamonds or prongs on the palm side of your hand.

So if you are one that likes to wear your rings all the time, you probably should not get full eternity. If you can wear the rings when there would be no chance of damage, then get the full if you feel certain you'd never need to size the ring. I wore the same size for years but did need to size up a little probably in my mid-40's.

I think the others wear their rings partly because they don't realize that diamonds can chip and crack. They are not aware of the wear and tear jewelry can take when not treated with care. Of course, most of the world isn't aware of that! I just want my rings to look good 10 and 20+ years from now.

I came to the exact same conclusions about bands...small stones with e-ring, larger stones for stand-alone diamond bands.

This is exactly why I think my rings spin so much. Because my fingers do get bigger and smaller throughout the day (dramatically). I can't size it a little tighter to avoid spinning because when I teach they swell and it would be very uncomfortable. That's why I like my rings bigger. I have always gotten a 6 and it works when I stack, when worn alone, teaching or not.

Based on everyone's responses and my on responses to you all I definitely have my answer! Thank you so much!!!

I have one almost full about 2/3 and the rest of 1/2's, i like the 2/3 best.. just me I guess but I like when the diamonds (or whatever) show and go under the fingers next to my ring finger, but then I can't imagine having stones just touching the steering wheel etc.. a small stone ring probably okay, the ones that are like 4carats I think it's intrusive on your hand.. but go with what YOU like :)

DIAMONDSEEKER!!!!!! :(sad you just popped my congratulations you made a decision balloons!!!!! I have always worn a size 6 even through pregnancy etc... But I'm not 40 yet so hmmm.

What do you guys think about me taking off the ring before I teach class? Like put it in my bag right before? Is that risky for loss?

If I get the ring checked semi annually by a dealer Pearlmans said that memoire will replace popped stones for free or if there was a crack in the shank they would fix it. I still don't want to be going through that hassle often.

removing your rings in a public place - work place - even home except in the same place every time means you could forget and leave them.. certainly you are young! and won't forget them, but my mom took her engagement ring off in Maryland to wash her hands in a rest room and realized it was gone in Georgia.. :( I know you won't do that and my mom was my age then, I once had a ring on my finger and was trying on another and it flew and were never able to find it.. small diamond wedding band (my moms I received after she died :( so I don't take them off till I go to bed. that is me.. Diamondseeker to my mind is right, I am getting my engagement ring reset (AGAIN 4th time) and the jewler showed me scratches on my stone, that I must have done. lucky I didn't chip it.. again, go with what makes you H A P P Y!

Yeah, I am sorry to bring reality into it! I was skinny til my metabolism started changing in my mid to late 40's and I gained a few pounds. I need to lose a few, but I don't anticipate ever being 120 again! And that's okay! Not everyone gains at that time of life, but as I see pics of my friends, I do see that most put on a few pounds during that time. I felt safe getting my full eternity Tiffany Legacy ring a few years ago, because my weight was stable. Even if I lose 10-15 pounds, I can still wear the ring. It just doesn't work the other way! I am only telling you these things because Memoire is expensive, and it would be sad to not be able to wear the ring at some point. If they would make one from 5-7:00, then you'd have a sizing area at the bottom that would serve a dual purpose...sizing small amounts and the diamonds would be more protected with metal facing the palm side of your finger. That may not work if your knuckles require the ring to be bigger making it spin more. Mine are not, so my rings do not spin.

I would have never been able to remember (or go to the trouble) of having my band checked every 6 months. So I wouldn't let that sway me. I do understand the appeal of the full eternity, though. Some girls have those Tiffany necklaces where they can hang a ring on a ring that opens and closes while working out. Just don't hang two because they might bang against each other and chip! Jewelry sounds like a lot of trouble, but once you develop the habits, you just don't think about it!

Oh no!!! That's totally not cool at all. I would have been heart broken for sure. Yes I don't really take my rings off unless I'm home. So probably not a good idea to start that now.

Oh no OP, DS has some great points (as usual) but don't give up on your dream (okay, that's probably a little too dramatic for the topic at hand LOL  )!! I would still get a full eternity, if I really wanted a full eternity, and I would just proceed having a lot of great information in my back pocket. That's what I did when I was in the process of choosing over a year ago and I've been thrilled w/ that decision from the time I first slipped the rings onto my finger because I really wanted the look of the full eternity (specifically the sparkle that I see on the underside of my hand).

I understand what you're going through. After reading tons of info here at PS, I was wavering between 3/4 or full for all of the reasons you're seeing in this thread and all of the cautions are absolutely valid and very "real" (DiamondSeeker's right) but sometimes we want what we want and what's most important is making an informed decision you know?

I ultimately went w/ full eternities because given the amount of money DH was spending on the rings and the amount of effort that the jeweler and I were putting into the project, I wanted to make sure that I'd be completely satisfied with how the rings looked on my finger.

To deal w/ the sizing issue, I ordered them a .5 larger than my ring size, and the jeweler put bridges inside of them that can be removed in the future if needed. To deal w/ my concerns regarding "protecting" them when I'm out and about and need to remove them for some reason (e.g, stopping at UPS to pickup large boxes), I keep a jewelry pouch in my purse where I can slip my rings if I'm keeping my purse w/me. I also always carry safety pins w/ me for the times when my purse isn't staying w/ me (e.g, at the gym), so I can pin my rings onto the underside of my clothing for ease and safe keeping (I got that idea from a previous thread here at PS and thought it was brilliant).

That said, I'm right handed so most of the reaching, grabbing, opening doors, etc is done w/ my right hand and I'm comfortable wearing these on my left hand daily. However, if I were left handed I would have gotten 3/4 eternities because I like to wear my rings every day and, if I was doing all of those things w/ my left hand every day, my nervousness about harming the rings would have overweighed my delight in wearing them.

Of course, it's worth repeating that all of the concerns w/full eternities are valid and I don't think there's anything that you can do to make sure that everything goes perfectly, especially over the long term (10-20 years). So these are just tips to try to help you manage those concerns.

I just LOVE having a place like PS where I can get so much great info in one spot!

I appreciate this DS " I am only telling you these things because Memoire is expensive, and it would be sad to not be able to wear the ring at some point."

The weird thing is when I tried on the Tiffany I didn't care that it was half. But that band is so beautifully done and I couldn't afford the full so it wasn't even a question. So now I'm trying to envision being happy with the half memoire. I mean the memoire is done really well so it's setting is nice too. I guess I was surprised that it was in my budget and got really excited about full since it's so beautiful and full:)

Ultimately it's true. You could damage it. But I think a ring is meant to be worn and almost all damage is repairable.

Plus with a spinning eternity, you're not always putting the same type of wear on the same place, like the bottom of an engagement ring. Go get the full.

Roxy- Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with me. It does help to hear the stories and I do appreciate PS and all of its experienced people. There is something to getting what you want. I feel like I have sacrificed many times doing the practical thing and wonder if that's why I haven't been completely satisfied with some of my pieces at times. Money doesn't grow on trees though so I want to make sure it's the right one for me. Ugh

Originally, I thought I wanted a 1/2 eternity, so that's what I got... but it drove me crazy when I looked down and my stones were on the palm side of my hand and I was constantly having to spin it back around. :angryfire: However, the 1/2 eternity can be sized, and that is a big plus.

I have a full now and couldn't be happier. I don't have to think about it anymore -- if it spins, so what??!! ...diamonds all the time! ;)) On the other hand, if I ever need a different size, I'm pretty much screwed. I'll have to buy another ring altogether. :|

Okay so I want to thank everyone who gave me feedback for sure!! I might be going practical on this one. If anyone has any input on this...

I have seen the memoire in person and it is beautiful sits low and looks great with my other bands. I do need a strong ring and so memoire seems like the choice but stones are G/H SI1 Excellent cut. But I keep thinking of BGD perfect arrows melee though even though I have not seen this one in person F/G VS.

If I do a half band.

Memoire approx .045x11=.50 Plat

BGD Dream band .05x11=.55 Plat The dream is tad MORE expensive.

How about wearing them on a chain during class so you don't have them just hanging out in a gym bag (that might worry me and impinge on my practice of peacefulness:)
