Question about engagement ring sizing

Hi everyone. I''m new here so I apologize if in wrong category or if this question has been asked a gagillion times LOL

My current ring size is 7. My engagement ring will be in a size 7. However, I am in a weight loss program and I know that the first things that slims down are my face and my fingers (if only OTHER areas would slim down first LOL). I''m afraid that when I''m finished with everything, my fingers might be a little bit more slender.

So my questions are:

1. How are engagement rings re-sized?
2. Does it still look the same?
3. Is it better to just wait to get a final size later??

If the shank is plain metal, a size up or down won't matter. But a shank with diamonds may have problems in resizing. Definitely don't get a ring with diamonds all the way around if you think your weight might fluctuate.
