Does anyone in here know what a pink sapphire ring at Harry Winstons starts at? I was in there NYC store last weekend with my GF and there stuff is so stunning it would be great to get something from there for her one day.
Thanks

Phil

Harry Winston is a name in the in the jewelry business known world wide. They have stunning pieces and are high-end retail catering to some of the worlds most extravagant buyers.

I would choose a broker who could get me the highest quality gemstone in my selected criteria and then choose a stunning gold/platinsmith to fabricate a custom ring. You will be saving yourself thousands. On the other hand if your looking for a dazzling collection of large extravagant stones and have a pocket book which goes really deep, Harry Winstons reputation is stellar.

If I was a movie star or high end stock broker with millions of dollars and could pay for it, I would probably choose Winston. I am a little more conservative and savvy when it somes to picking out beautiful custom pieces and gorgeous smaller gems.

Good Luck..Either way you will have one happy lady!

Hi;
Thanks very much for your response.
Is it best to buy the stone and get the mounting from the same dealer? Is looking online a good indicator of what I am looking to pay?
I called Harry Winstons and the one in NYC is way out of my price range.
thanks

Phil

Many people here have bought their colored gems from www.cherrypicked.com and have been very pleased. I built my own pink sapphire ring from a local jeweler and was very happy with the results. Good luck and let us know how you make out!!!

Hi, Phil...

www.cherrypicked.com is great, of course, and you might check out www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com , www.palagems.com (wholesale), and www.ajsgems.com to see what's out there.

You'll probably want to decide right off whether or not you want your sapphire to be heat treated. (You'll be paying a premium for a certified, unheated stone.)

Unless you're the "do it yourself type" you probably would be best off having a trusted vendor, online or local, find you a stone and make up the ring for you.

I think it's generally agreed that potential problems can be avoided by having the same merchant supply the stone and then mount it. (Check out the "Broken Masterpiece" thread in this forum.)

Just some thoughts...

Phil,
Widget sure knows her precious gemstones. While I am a lover of them I am no expert. She has given you some excellent websites to check out and has brought up some very good points to think about. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Hee Hee Kaleigh: I''m certainly no expert. Just an enthusiastic consurmer...

But I do like to spread the madness:

Phil: I just noticed that Cherrypicked has a few pink sapphs on "clearance"...you might give Richard Orbach a call:
