I'm getting ready to buy my girlfriend her diamond for her engagement ring. I appreciate all the information that has been supplied to me by this website.

I wan to confirm that purchasing a loose diamond from a legitimate source (Pricescope, Blue Nile, DirtCheap) is a viable and one of the most inexpensive ways to go about this.

Above what price does buying a diamond on line become unsafe...$2,000, $5000, $10,000?

How can they offer such low prices?

I want to also confirm that a retail jeweler will cost approximately 10 - 20% more.
