I was looking at getting an eternity ring for my wife as a combo xmas/anniversay gift however her size is an 8 and it needed to be special ordered and it would not be here for Christmas. My bad. I will get her something else. I''ve read the other post on post xmas diamond prices howver do you think that the prices will be better later on in Jan? Also if you get an eternity ring from a vendor should they have a report or images on all 20 of the stones? or is that something that just isn''t done? Thanks again for you help, john

Hi,
I would still order it and show her a picture! I would totally be cool with that, I guess it depends on the person though

I don''t think diamond prices will reduce significantly by January. I think it was mentioned that the prices will go down more noticeably in larger carat weights (2+ I''m guessing).

Vendors generally do not provide images or reports for stones in eternity bands. I think if each stone was 0.25+ carats it would be possible, so I guess it depends on the size of the stones.

If you want to know about the diamond quality in an eternity ring, you should get an independent appraiser to check things out...

Aw, what a sweet thing to do!! I think the ring will be worth her wait even though it is arriving after Xmas. If you are buying the ring from a trusted vendor than I don''t think you need a report on all of the stones IMO. Who are you getting it from?

Ditto

No, they don''t certify small stones in a ring like that. It would raise the cost of the piece considerably! I agree with buying from a reliable vendor who sells quality stones, though.

Order it anyway! She''ll be THRILLED!! I don''t think they would have 20 certed stones though. Just buy from a vendor you can trust and make sure cut quality is a priority!

I have looked at several online dealers like Facets, Blue Nile and Whiteflash. I also have a (friend) in the business who can make me whatever I wanted such as color and clarity and I know it will be perfect too. I thought about the picture in a card idea but thought it was kinda cheapy(?) My other idea was to buy a ring local at Jareds and then return it but thats kinda creepy to do to the salesperson. Anyway I'm looking for a 3.5 -4.0 eterneity in a shared prong in platinum. I have had several quotes from 6-8000. I would think that at those prices the ring would be absolutley perfect. I have purchased from other online dealers and have had pretty good sucess with the products. I just thought that after xmas also that the prices would come down somewhat as from what I hear sales in jewlery are off 40%. I guess I'll play it by ear like all men, lol. Thanks! John
