PSA: how to peel garlic the easy way!

I was watching Martha Stewart on PBS a couple years ago and saw her do the same thing. I skip the first step of separating the head into cloves and just shake away. It totally works and is one of the best kitchen/life hacks ever.

Cool!
I gotta try this.

Thanks.

That was fast!

I have to admit that I've been lazy lately and have been using the pre-cut/chopped jarred garlic. Not nearly as good as fresh
but a lot faster when I'm trying to throw dinner together.

I'll have to try this new peel method.

Does this really work? I'll have to try this this weekend as it looks easy. I've been smashing them open with the flat side of my butcher knife.

I use the pepper technique all the time. very fast and easy.

LOVE THIS! Amazing. I am totally trying it!

Wow! And here thought my method of smash a clove with the side of your knife was fast. This is so on my to try list!

What?! I hate fighting with it so I buy the bagged peeled kind but it molds so fast. I'm totally trying this.

I find that unless the garlic is super fresh, I have to shake it with the force of a jackhammer to get all the cloves peeled. What works best for me is to separate the cloves first, then individually squeeze the two ends of each clove in to pop the skin off.
