Home PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Jas12, I can''t imagine what you''re going through. Picking paint colors was enough to drive me nuts. Just thinkings about all the decisions you have to make when building your own house is too much to think about. I''m sure it''ll be so great though when you''re done!

janine, yay for 18 months! Sounds like C is doing really well. D counted to 10 a few times when he was in the mood to repeat me. It was so cute!!! I just love hearing him talk!!!

MrsS, glad you''re enjoying your new job!

puffy, have fun in vegas! can''t wait to see your new goodies!

bobo, how are you and B doing?

QT, thanks to you and your DH, 2 out of the last 3 nights I''ve had ice cream and one time was even ice cream in bed!
3.gif

Mandarine, haha. mommy brain? In any case, it''s nice to see a picture of your boys! They are so adorable!

TGal, wow, that''s shocking! Who knew you could pass cavities! Makes me rethink feeding D with the same utensil I''m using but those kisses I can''t give up!

I can''t believe I have an 18 month old! I really love this stage! It''s so fun to see him walk and talk. I just love seeing learn new things. He is still obsessed with vehicles - bus, truck, car, train, plane, you name it. It makes him SO happy to see a bus! He still can say the S in buS so it sounds more like ba. He goes ba ba ba ba with a huge smile every time he sees a bus! It''s hilarious!

He''s been sleeping better too. I never have to hold him to sleep anymore. He always goes down without crying. He often wakes up and doesn''t cry. He''ll just sit there quietly, talking to himself, or he just lays there and when we come in the room he pops his head up. I think it''s been a full week of him NOT sleeping in our bed! We were getting into a bad habbit of bringing him into bed if he had a hard time falling back asleep. For two nights we let him CIO for 30-60 mins and since then he goes back to sleep himself, usually no help needed! His naps have been longer too - usually 1.5 to 2 hours. He used to only nap 30 minutes sometimes. Thank goodness! I am loving this. Life is so much easier! I am fully enjoying this while it lasts because I know in 6 months I''ll be sleep deprived again!
39.gif

As for me, I''m 12 weeks today and my NT scan is tomorrow. If everything goes well I''ll tell more people after my NT scan. Exciting week! Just one more week and I''m officially into the 2nd trimester! I''m really looking forward to feeling baby movements. I hope it''s true and I start feeling them a few weeks earlier than last time, which is soon! Also can''t wait to find out the sex!

tgal: thanks, and she is a petite one! I brush C''s teeth 1x a day. It''s still a battle and it''s the best I can do. I just use water on the brush, not sure if that''s bad. Sometimes we kiss on the mouth too, ...I don''t know, I think the article is a bit alarmist. Yes that 2yr old''s teeth are awful but I''m sure it''s mostly due to the sugary drinks, probably from a bottle! And what next, start chewing that gum while you''re TTC''ing. Sigh....well at least I do do the towel wipe over the teeth at night (mostly b/c I can''t get brush on front uppers..she just will not let me!). Oh and C has the big buck teeth too..with gaps! Hope it closes up when they all come in!

Thanks everyone...and sorry again

Mommy brain! I thought I clicked on the otehr thread!....and well, obviously I didn''t!
Bobo yes, they''re identical!!!

TGal- I think I just "friended" you on the other site, but it didn''t let me send you a message telling you who I was. So if you get a friend from request from someone you don''t know, it''s me. My pic is of O- he''s a bald looking blonde and he has a big grin on his face. My initials are AB.
3.gif

Jas12--
STTN...what''s that? :P
J has stopped nursing at night since 9 months, but she still wakes up every now and then.
It''s not too bad most times cuz she''ll fall back asleep when she finds me (we still co-sleep),
but on days when she''s congested, she''ll be up 3-4 times a night and will only go back to sleep w/ me as a pillow.

PT....we are right where Co is too.
She''ll go before bathtime and before and after her sleep.
She''ll ask to go on occasions during the day if she''s preoccupied w/ play for her TV.
We have pull-ups, padded undies, and big girl undies that she can choose to wear.
Pull-ups are less absorbent but they did diddly squat in convincing her to go potty or even having her diaper changed.
She had a couple of accidents when she insisted on wearing the undies
20.gif
and after the last accident,
I told her that''s it w/ the undies until she can use the potty the whole day.
I''m not pushing her either, though I do tell her that I want her to be PTed when she''s 2 :D
Like Co, I think she''s ready.....just doesn''t have the patience and time make those trips to the bathroom when she can do her thing and continue playing.
I said she''s ready because this morning she was going potty and she announced when her poo and shishi are going to be ejected "I feel shishi coming"
9.gif

Measuring small.....I probably measured small when I was carrying J but the dr wasn''t too concern about it since I''m tiny and the belly growth was steadily increasing.
The dr didn''t tell me the measurements because he said it really doesn''t say much about how big/small the baby is because there are so many factors that can affect the measurements -- how you carry, position of baby, body fat, etc. And he doesn''t want mommies/daddies to be to be worrying needlessly about the size of their babies.

jas12 i measured about 3 weeks behind, but up until 32 weeks i was always right on track. and i delivered a perfectly healthy 7lb 13oz little boy. but i understand about worrying. i''m sure everything is fine.

bobo how are you? hope you are a-ok!! how''s little B?

tgal quiet time?? what in the world is that? B and i brush his teeth 3 times a day, when he wakes up, after lunch, and before bed. i ALWAYS give B kisses on the lips.

mandy love the boys!! they are TOO cute!

snlee enjoy the NT scan...i loved it! D sounds like he is doing very well!! hope your nausea is getting better!

ring is here!!! i stalked the fedex guy. haha. i even decided not to go to the gym this morning but i''ll probably go later with B. and can i say how in love i am?? the prongs, the ring...i love love love it!! it''s so simple but just beautiful. i will try to get a pic of it later.

Jas12 - I measured fine until like 37 weeks, when I measured 2 weeks small and they sent me for an u/s to check on him. I also lost a pound that week, it freaked me out and I blame it for gaining 5 pounds in the last 3 weeks! Kyle was 8 pounds 14 ounces, so I have no idea was was up with the funky measuring. I''m sure you''re little one is baking just fine.

Quick post b/c nap time is coming to a close --

Burk -- congratulations!
Tgal -- have a great visit with your IL. Are you doing menus for all 3 meals a day? Forgive me, how long are they staying?
Mandarine -- gorgeous boys -- we''re appreciative of your "mistake" posting here!
Puffy -- yea for the rings.

Boys have been in 2 restaurants in the last few days. People were actually stopping by the table to tell us how sweet and well behaved they are. I think all of that grab-a-squawking-kid-and-get-out-then-return has paid off.

It''s my big accomplishment.
They are also beginning to mimic my housework. I pulled out a floor sweeper today and when I turned around, they''d each pulled a mop/broom out and were "helping."
25.gif

Tgal - Thanks for the link. I am guilty of doing all those things - kissing on the lips, blowing on and sharing food. I''ll have to be better with the food, but no way I am giving up the kisses. I guess I should be too surprised by the article since we just found out our 4 yrs old nephew has a few crowns (DH saw the crowns and asked his sister about them).

snlee - Haha. We can both blame DH for the ice cream.
9.gif

lili - LOL on "I feel shishi coming." How cute.

Jas12 - J was measuring a week behind at 28 weeks, so OB just said to expect him to be smaller. He wasn''t concerned. I am sure everything is fine.

puffy - waiting for the pic of the ring.

Jas - Yay for the well-behaved boys.
36.gif
And soon you can sit back and let the boys do their chores.
9.gif

snlee, little B is running a low grade fever with coughing and I think I got whatever that he got but beside that we''re doing good. How are you feeling? 2nd trimester is almost here for you, enjoy the NT scan tomorrow, when I did my NT scan, the little bean was having hiccups in there so it was bopping up and down. DH was surprised it look like a baby already.

Thanks puffy, little B is good, he just sound like he got a lot of mucus in him that he can''t sneeze or cough out...can''t wait to see ur ring.

jas, your boys are so sweet to help you sweep. Little B love to help DH sweep and vacuum the floor.

Bobo - Hope you and little B feel better soon.

Puffy--
Pics, pics!!
And have fun in Vegas.
How long are you going to be there?

Burk--
Love that new avi of yours! So precious!
and
36.gif
36.gif
on the sales of your house.
How long will you be in a temporary place?
Yikes...packing and unpacking twice? Poor you, especially w/ two babies.

TGal--
It''s always nice to go on travel w/ a baby holder :D
Can''t believe A is going to be 2 in 2 days.
Remember to take tons of pictures of her party.
And w/ so many family members around, there shouldn''t be any excuse for you being behind the camera eh?

MustangGal--
Poor K. That''s why I was the bodyguard the first time we let J lose on those mall playground.
Maybe you need to go on an off day like mid-week or something.

Janine--
Awww.....that''s so cute and great the C count to 10!

MrsS--
Bummer about having to spend your nights and weekend for the certifications...but it''s only temporary.
Yay for being able to work from home (that is if you can manage w/ 3 kids around :)

QT--
Wow, 6 hrs stretches. I don''t think J got to that until she''s almost 1.
If M doesn''t need to be PTed for daycare, then I say let them PT her then.
They say that most time the kid will see other kids going potty and get trained themselves.
So is your MIL going to babysit both J and M for a while then?
Your maternity is only 3 months right?

TGal--
Don''t you get quiet when A is doing her 3 hr nap? :D
Wow, your in-laws are here that long?
So do you still have your nanny there while they are here?

LOL about everyone being small compared to your amazon child.
A is really tall.....I''m sure she''s a good 3-4 inches over J right now.
She''s got daddy''s tall genes.

Yikes on the baby oral health.
I''m guilty of doing all those things, but we do attempt to brush her teeth after breakfast and before bed.
I''m also flossing (which amazingly she doesn''t fight me) her.
She eats all sort of crap (all sugary and sticky), so I make flossing part of her nighttime routine.

Mandy--
Awww....you''ve deleted the picture of your cuties
7.gif

I was just about to say that I wished more of you newborn-1yr mommies make that mistake more.
Your boys are so cute and getting so big.

Bobo--
Poor you and little B.
Hope you two are getting better.
Warmer weather is just around the corner, so we all can kiss the sniffles and colds good-bye for a while.

We are doing good.
Just chugging along here and enjoying seeing J becoming more a little girl.

Snlee--
haha about the ice cream!
I only have myself to blame for my ice cream and chocolates.
Yay for almost done w/ the first trimester and the NT scan tomorrow.
When are you finding out the sex?
I''ll be on pins and needles for the result.

jas--
haha....too bad the place only gets messier w/ sweeping skills.
J would throw things on the floor so that she can sweep and mop them up
20.gif

ETA: the stones are 20 points each...17 of them

puffyuternity.jpg

jas, too bad they can''t really help you clean! my mom got D to "help" her sweep too. she said he did a great job at getting under the table. haha! it''s so cute!

bobo, hope both of you feel better soon! feeling a little better but still tired and feeling sick on and off. I LOVE the NT scan. I think it''s my favorite u/s since you can see the whole body and it really does look like a baby!

lili, haha, ice cream, yum. You have nothing to worry about! you''re so skinny! We might be able to find out the sex at my 16 week u/s. Can''t wait!!!

puffy, omg I LOVE all your new pieces! All of them are gorgeous! I don''t even have a favorite because I LOVE LOVE LOVE all three!!! Is one going to be a RHR? I don''t think you have enough fingers to wear all your beautiful rings! If you ever get tired of them, please send them my way!
3.gif
Enjoy them!

Puffy--
Oo.....so pretty.
Love all your pieces.
Like Snlee said, I can''t say which one is my favorite since they are all so scrumptious.

Snlee--
haha...not at the rate I''m packing on the pounds.
for some reasons, i''ve developed a major sweet tooth PP.
of course it didn''t help that my metabolism isn''t what it used to be too.
i''ve just gained about 4 lbs in the last couple of weeks.
damn those TJ rocky road squares and peanut butter cups (and haagen daaz green tea, macadamian nut kisses, fage, etc) :P

I am brushing Co''s teeth once or twice a day (i sometimes forget after brekkie) he''s good about it if we sing and he loves the taste of tooth paste.
I still don''t floss. He has the gappy teeth so i think brushing is okay right now, but i keep meaning to start so at least the habit is established.

janine--the gap will close once all the teeth come in. The space is necessary & good b/c otherwise when the eye teeth and late molars come in they will crowd the existing teeth causing them to go buck or tilt. Nature has it figured out and plans for this by spacing the two front teeth (i just asked my dentist about this a few months ago b/c Co''s gap was pretty big)

Puffy: wow, love the jewels!!!

Lili--doesn''t sound like she is disrupting your sleep too badly
4.gif
It''s amazing how often kids wake up. I noticed this with the paci weaning b/c Co would cry before self-soothing himself back to sleep. It is at least 3-4 times a night. I guess adults do too. I am up probably 20 times a night now b/w trying to get comfy and peeing
38.gif

Mustang--i remember not gaining anything for almost a month in my 3rd tri with Co and i was sooo concerned (only time in our lives when we want to gain weight right?! ha). My OB was like "umm, well, you gained more than enough in the first in second tri, no worries
41.gif
. I was measuring fine at that point tho.

Thanks for all the input on measuring small. It seems common to measure a week or two off and esp near the end. I guess i am just concerned b/c i find fewer examples of measuring 4 weeks off by just week 30. I am hoping it''s just a fluke. I know i wouldn''t be worrying at all if it wasn''t for the kidney issue. i just can''t help but make assumptions that things are somehow connected (even if there is no reason to suggest i should
15.gif

OMG, i got an email from a friend who just had her second baby girl the other day. Her first daughter was early and was just 3 lbs. For this pregnancy she was having premature labor again and spent some time in hospital b/c of it . However, she carried till 39 weeks and was having a shower at home when she felt something and got out and called her midwife (she was planning a tentative homebirth). The middie rushed right over and 13 MINUTES later and just one big push her 10.5 lb baby girl was delivered!
6.gif
36.gif
Wow. more than 3 x the size of the other daughter & she didn''t even know she was in labor!!!
Crazy thing is, the OB monitoring her suspected a big baby and wanted to do a C-section b/c she is fairly petite. She decided to go natural and it''s a good thing she did, the recovery after just 13 min labor vs a surgery when you have 2 kids to look after is a major difference.
I am just in awe someone can get 10.5 lbs out of them and barely even know it
4.gif

jas12: thanks for the reassurance on gappy teeth! It does help in that I can delay flossing a bit
emwink.gif
. What toothpaste are you using for Co?
Sounds like you are doing well otherwise and how incredible about your friend with the 10.5lb baby girl! She's petite and went natural in 13mins?? Wow is all I can say!

puffy: your rings are just gorgeous. No surprise though, all your bling is!!
30.gif

Thanks QT, love ur avi!

Thanks lili, I can''t wait til summer comes, I''m done with winter.

Thanks snlee.

puffy, love all your pieces, they are all my favorite.

Gah...I want to catch up, but am so. darn. tired.

What is it about having guests over that is so draining...they''ve only been here one day? I guess I should care less, but it''s the Korean DIL in me that has to make sure they are comfortable and well fed. So I''m stressing about what to feed them and dealing with work and my daughter since the nanny is NOT going to be here for a week and a half and I let my mother also off on her days because I think it would drive my mom nuts to try to have to converse in a language that she isn''t fluent in.

And if I''m tired, I can''t sneak away for a snooze since we gave them our bed, so bed for the next two weeks is an air mattress in the living room. Ah well, at least I have a business trip for the third week of their stay.

Anyway, all is actually going well...Amelia loves them which is no surprise since they are wonderful, loving people. But boy, she''s also being so much more of a PITA. Someone must be slipping her some sugar because she''s a spaz. Or maybe that comes with the territory of being 2, which happens tomorrow.

China, I just haven''t added any new friends on that site. I can''t keep up with things on PS and off PS if I have to read tons of posts on that site, so I''ve just kept it to the original group of mommas I started off with mostly to see pics of the kids who are close to Amelia''s age. I''m so slack, I haven''t even responded to any friend requests, as I figure no big loss to anyone who doesn''t have me for a friend.
41.gif

QT, 4 year old with crowns? Yikes, but that shouldn''t surprise me. I think I had a ton of cavities by the time I hit jr high, which isn''t that much older. And I know I had my front teeth fall early when I was young because of rotting from apple juice.

Bobo, hope you feel better soon.

lili, I have a DSLR and people don''t know how to take pics with it for whatever reason, so it will only be me behind the camera.
9.gif
Amelia''s naps are only 2.5 hours tops now...hehehe. Seriously, the can be anyway from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, but mostly average around 2 hours, and no, it''s not enough quiet time for me. How does 2 hours go by that fast every day?

puffy, the reset is GORGEOUS as is everything else! Lovely and you are so lucky...wear it in good health!

Jas12, makes sense about the gap. Amelia''s is pretty big too. I''m beginning to like the heehaw look on toddlers anyway. And your story about the 10.5 lber made me cross my legs.
5.gif

I''m baaaacckkkk! It was so interesting to go back to a country I haven''t been for 13 years. The cities change, I change. The wedding (purpose of the trip) was something out of a movie. I have never been to a wedding like this. First off they spent...a lot...I think more than we bought our first house for
23.gif
. There were 500 people (over 600 invites were sent out) and they have a totally different culture. Dancing is major there and their weddings go til dawn. Seriously...they served breakfast. I was excited to come home and T was so unimpressed when I picked her up. Kinda stung. But later she was being REALLY cuddly, and kissing me and telling me "mama stay home."
16.gif
Maybe she was just overwhelmed plus they had their easter party at school so I guess I cannot compete with chocolate.

I am too behind to catch up but I hope all my favorite mamas and tots had a great week!

Just popping in to wish Amelia a happy second birthday.

Hope you (and your mamma) have a fantastic day. Can't quite believe it's been two years, though!

She was such a darling newborn. I was still pregnant when I saw this pic and it was the first time I got really excited about seeing my own baby, because it just melted my heart. Still makes me a little teary.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMELIA!

TGal, I cannot believe she is 2! Time really flies. Her newborn pictures are adorable and she is such a little lady now. You should be a very proud mama!
