As a coloured stone lover, I would LOVE to wear a set of spectacular coloured stone earrings for my wedding. I'm looking for chandelier earrings in particular.

My dress will be antique white or a very pale gold. I have brown skin. I prefer the strongly coloured stones than the pale ones. I don't plan to wear any other jewellery apart from these earring and my wedding set, so I want these to be showstoppers.

I would really really appreciate any design ideas you have, from your creative minds or from any website. I'm going to work the dress around the earrings (yup, a true PSer!)

I realise it's a contrast to the white dress, but I think the right earrings would work. I'm leaning towards rubies or emeralds at the moment, with diamonds thrown in.

Is this a crazy idea?? Should I stick to white ie diamonds only?? Or can you help a girl out?

All suggestions welcome. Price no bar as I'm looking for inspiration.

Thank you all!

I may have to go as it's past my bedtime in the UK, but I promise to check back asap and respond to all of you.

You must do whatever you want - it's your special day! Earrings can really frame a face and will look stunning in a photograph. The only thing is that you'd need to be careful not to wear a necklace and think carefully about how you have your hair.

Here are two of my favourite earring designs. The first pair are spinels and they belong to Art Nouveau. When I saw them I was literally blown away and they remain my very favourite earrings! Catmom has some similar with sapphires that are equally as beautiful but can't find photos at the mo.

I'm also attaching a pair of diamond earrings that I've been hoping to make at some point. You could possibly use coloured gemstones but I'd stick to one colour only!

Can't wait to see what you do.

Below is a design that someone did for their FI as a wedding day present. They used a suite of aquarmarines from Richard Homer I believe. I wish I could find the link of the completely product because they were gorgeous! Plus they are detachable so you could wear the earrings several different ways....let me hunt for that thread.

You could have mostly diamonds w/ colored stone briolettes (these are from Lang Antiques)

Or something like this where you replace the diamond drops with a colored stone (these are also from Lang Antiques)

Or a colored stone in the center with diamond drops (these are from Kensington House Antiques)

These aren't precisely chandelier type earrings but you could have a really big stone for a big splash of color (these are from Victoria Sterling) This particular pair are garnets which are around 30 carats total.

Sarahbear, I love that those earrings are detachable, very practical in addition to pretty.

Rosetta, these aren't chandeliers either, but they're show-stoppers. You could do simpler versions if you wanted, or adapt the idea some way. The first pair are my faves, maybe too in-your-face for a wedding rather than a ball, but smaller & simplified could work.

Here's another design that is do-able with any stones & feminine & eye-catching.

Thank you so much LD, sarahbear, kismet, jewelfreak, Michael E!

Your suggestions are all wonderful!

I am loving those emerald ones kismet!

Any more emerald earrings from anyone?

In fact all stones are welcome, because it's all about the style. Please keep them coming!

That sounds like a super idea. I agree that when you have stand out earrings, you may want to consider not wearing a necklace. I’m not good with earring ideas (mine are all boring) but Lang’s Antiques is a great place to look.

These are all diamonds and rubies from MS Rau Antiques

I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a design. Light and airy or pack a whaloop. The indian polki diamond earrings are less than $500 :naughty:

Swoon!

Thank you chrono, art nouveau, treenbean and kismet again

Never fear, I won't be wearing a necklace. I was thinking of an off the shoulder dress too, plus a long antique veil. It all sounds great in my head, but pulling the whole outfit together is another story.

If anyone has any ideas about antique lace wedding dresses, please feel free to post them too!

Thank you all again, please post more eye candy (artnoveau those earrings are beyond beautiful!)
