Dear Members,
I am planning to propose to her in 9 days, and am looking at two different round diamond tiffany setting rings from Tiffany:

1. 1.38 I VS2 $12,600

2. 1.24 I VS2 $10,400

My girl is 5''1, 100 pounds and her finger size is 4.00, so she is small. The obvious question is - Would a 1.24c look large enough on her? Will there be a noticeable difference between the two? Unfortunately they are at two different locations so I cannot compare them side by side. Also, if I go for the 1.24c, I can also afford getting her the fleur de li Tiffany diamond key she loves.

Any advice??? Thanks in advance!

I would take the smaller ring and the key.

I would take the smaller stone too, the 1.38c probably going to face up maybe 0.2mm bigger in diameter than the 1.24c.

You wouldn''t notice much difference between them for face up size, however if you did want to get the larger one then maybe you could get her the key for a wedding gift or anniversary?

And I think coverage is there.

Forgive my ignorance... How do I read this chart? Does it actually put both rings in the same ''category'' visually?

Ring size is on top and carat size is the column.

So for your case, a ring size 4, with a 1.25c will have a finger coverage of 47%, you will have to go up to 1.5c to get a 50% coverage.

At most the variation between the 1.24c and the 1.38c is a coverage increase of 2%, is it worth the price increase? You will have to decide for yourself.

Either ring would look great on your GF and substantial on the hand as she is very petite, you wouldn''t notice much visual difference between them when worn, there would be a little but not much.

Some size comparison pics to give you an idea but I don't know what the hand size is.

Below from top of finger to bottom, 1 ct, 1.2 cts, 1.5 cts, 2 cts

Wow that is very helpful! Thanks!

I would go for the larger stone. I think you/she will see a difference and a 1.38 is a very nice size. For the price difference, I think it's worth it. Save the key for an anniversary present.

ETA: Speaking for myself, I can see the difference
