Prongs for an Emerald Cut Diamond

Hi all!

Longtime lurker here. I am looking to reset my 2.01 emerald cut diamond into a very simple solitaire. When I look at emerald cuts in solitaires, I often notice that the prongs sometimes throw off the symmetry and are often bulky. I am looking for suggestions on jewelers who are easy to work with and do a great job with symmetrical prongs that are not too bulky. Price is not a major factor and I am looking to use either brushed white gold, unplated gold, or platinum. I am willing to work with the metal that whomever I go with prefers.

well, remember that diamonds are not always perfectly symmetrical. A larger prong might highlight that more than a smaller one.

If price were not a factor and I wanted the best work possible, I'd probably call Victor Canera, maybe Maytal Hannah.

just a heads-up, vc is most likely not going to take outside stones. there are a few instances reported here where he turned down outside stones, including myself as well. good luck.

Keep in mind, thicker is stronger and safer.
But thinner, and more delicate-looking, is weaker and less safe.

So choose between what you find more pretty and delicate vs. what better-prevents your diamond not being lost.
No matter what your jeweler tells you, you can't have both.

So make an informed choice.
