princess vs round face up which one looks bigger same carat weight?

I have asked this 2x already, but shall be a pest asking again. I walked in Zales today looking at round and princess cuts. I saw princess 1.50carat 5.75x5.75xdepth, round 1.40 carat 6.6 in diameter. round has bigger diameter yet looked smaller than princess cut. I asked sales diamond expert at store, she said princess cut looks bigger than round for same carat wt. that's why more brides are buying princess cuts nowadays. she just sold a 1c princess but looked more like a 1.5c round!

In previous 2 questions I asked forum, I got answer that round looks bigger for same carat weight. Please clarify, is this really true?


For stone size 2 carat, is it better to buy round vs princess cut?

First of all, something is wrong here. 1.4 carat round (Tolkovsky) should have about 7.2 mm in diameter.

Well cut Princess of 1.5 carat should be about 6.4x6.4 mm (not 5.75*5.75). However, diagonal should be 9.05 mm.

Let's compare areas.

1.4 crt round (7.2mm in dia): 40.71 sq. mm
1.5 crt princess (6.4x6.4): 40.96 sq. mm

Therefore they have almost the same areas.
