OK, still searching endlessly so here''s another one with (which seems to be) great "numbers". What do you all think? The price is more around my budget and as you can tell by the IS, it is directly reflected. I just wonder how pretty this baby really is? Is the girdle a problem? Any comments/opinions welcome regardless if negative or positive. :)

That IS looks an awful lot like a diamond I had called in from WF--that odd irregular light hole in the middle (different carat weight though). You may be right though--at that budget you may have to sacrifice a little bit to get to the 1 carat number and the stone doesn''t look too bad. Just make sure whoever is looking at it tells you whether it is an SI1 eyeclean or not. vthn-vthk is not the greatest either but... All the other numbers do look very ideal, but keep in mind this is a fancy and an expert eye and in person evaluations are much more important with fancies than numbers.

It''s a tough situation--you do need to make some compromises at that price so that could be the best stone you''ll find... who knows?

Garysax - Thank you for your opinion. Perhaps I should just keep looking...

Here was my thread about a week ago.

Here

I don''t think the small hole looks nearly as bad as mine did on the IS; yours is quite small and nearly all princess cuts have some sort of light leakage in the center anyway (check WF''s expert selections or GOG selections, for example, even they have some leakage in the middle most of the time). I think you might want to keep this stone, especially if it''s eyeclean and Bob says it looks good. And the rest of the IS looks quite good.

But if you have time, keep looking for just the right one. I agonized over it but eventually had Bob send the stone back and came upon a beautiful stone (but that''s another thread right there!).

Excuse me. The stone is definitely not bad for that price, but it is untrue to say that most princess cuts have central light leakage. Incorrect.

Live long,

Gary, very interesting thread. It appears you are going (or already have gone) through the same thing I am...
Thanks for the link!

Live long,

I stand corrected.

I will say that a lot of the IS images I've seen, even the ideal cuts I couldn't afford, of princesses have a little light leakage in the center (not necessarily a clear hole like that one has). Tiny sample size of stones I've seen relative to the pros like Paul, though.

Hey Gary, may I ask where do you stand in search of your princess shaped stone? (or your outcome?)

I'm getting my stone mounted in a Gelin Abaci TR-105 right now. Found a little bit more expensive stone ~100$ and the appraiser tells me its wonderful, so I'm very happy with the (tough) decision to send the other one back. If you've got time and aren't on a tight e-ring schedule, I'd suggest sending anything back that you you're not 100% satisfied with as then you'll wonder about it every time you look at the stone.

You can see the stone I ended up getting from WF here

Wow Gary, nice choice! Hope everything works out well for ya.
