Whoa! I just noticed this thread.
Ironically, I never notice stuff pinned at the top of pages because I'm used to just scrolling down for the new content.

When's the photo deadline?
I wanna take some more pics.

Oh my gosh! These pictures are amazing.

Every time I see a GTG shot with everyone''s rings on one person''s hand I gasp. They are so shocking to see--I think we should have a calendar with regional GTG "group shots" for each month!

What a great project. PS, you ROCK!

Just wanted to throw in another charity organization:

World Food Programme

A global charity would be so fitting since we''re a global community!

I may seem old fashioned, but I''d like to suggest the Salvation Army for one of the charities supported by this effort. I have seen the suffering of the poor in Philadelphia, in distant parts of the world in person and on my TV. Right here, in the glamorous USA, life is unimaginably horrific for many people. One of the best domestic resources for those who just need help, plain and simple, is the Salvation Army.

I am pacing the floor awaiting Andrey getting the higher res photos of the best shots here so things can get underway. There are some truly super photos.

TGal, thanks for nominating my Tessa Ring. This thread has inspired me to try to take some better photos! Mine are embarrassingly bad. Love the idea for a book/calendar!

No good pictures from me, but I wanted to plug www.worldhorsewelfare.org
I think Lorelei suggested this as a possible charity. Either that or another animal related cause. :)

Another possiblity is Polar Bear International. I this would be a great charity for multiple reasons.
The polar bear is definitely a symbol for the holidays.
It is a species that is on the endangered species list.
Just like Pricescope many polar bears are located all over the world.

I have 5 nominations in addition to second-ing Coati''s JM OEC and FrekeChild''s ''big blue'' spinel:

Pokey''s tavorite (first up)
DiamantBlu''s EC
Neatfreak''s asscher sapphire
Musey''s asscher
K Freefly''s OEC

Since this is an international community, I suggest we choose a charity that serves people or animals internationally.

Since this is an international community, I suggest we choose a charity that serves people or animals internationally.
Heifer serves both people and animals...well...it provides animals to people so that they can help themselves.

Tonight, on the 6th night of Hanukah, our family determined to give a donation to them.

I went to Charity Navigator to learn more about them.

But...they cross referenced to other options that are similar, but different.

There, I saw Africare.

I think I''d like to recommend this one...Africare...as one of the charities that Pricescope will consider.

It has low program expenses, so moneys contributed go at a rate of over 90% to provide direct services. It has modest costs for its CEO, relatively. And...it serves primarily those in significant need in Africa. It even includes some microlending work. See this description picked up on its website, and it is reflected on what is read on Charity Navigator as well....

"Africare helps Africa. A leader in African assistance, Africare is the oldest and largest African-American led development organization working exclusively in Africa. In fact, Africare has more projects in Africa than any other U.S. based charity. Africare has programs in the following broad areas: health and HIV/AIDS, food security and agriculture, water and sanitation, emergency and humanitarian assistance, women’s empowerment, environmental management, literacy and vocational training, micro-enterprise development, governance and civil society development."

I did, thanks TB, thats the great thing about WHW is that it helps horses all over the world and as such would be a very suitable charity to benefit from this project if possible.
